FULTON COUNTY, Ind. -- The 24-year-old driver who struck and killed three kids while they crossed the street to board their school bus told police she saw the lights but didn't realize it was a bus until the kids were in front of her. Alyssa Shepherd was arrested at her place of employment Tuesday evening and charged with three counts of reckless homicide and one count of disregarding the stop arms on a school bus causing injury. Police say she was driving a Toyota Tacoma on State Road 25 around 7:30 a.m. when she "disregarded" the stop arm and lights on a stopped school bus in front of a mobile home park, striking four kids who were crossing the street to board the bus. Alivia Stahl, 9, and her twin brothers, Xzavier and Mason Ingle, 6, were all pronounced dead at the scene. Maverick Lowe, 11, was flown to Parkview Hospital in Ft. Wayne in critical condition with multiple broken bones and internal injuries. His family released a statement on Wednesday saying he is in stable condition and recovering. A probable cause hearing was recorded in Fulton County Superior Court on Tuesday where investigators and officers were interviewed following the crash as state police sought a warrant to arrest Shepherd. In that recorded hearing, Indiana State Police Detective Michelle Jumper recalled the information given to her by the bus driver, Shepherd and a witness that was behind Shepherd following the crash. The Bus DriverJumper said the bus driver said he had driven that same route for "a couple of years" and that he had stopped and activated his lights as he normally does in the morning before he waves the kids across the street to get on the bus. The bus driver told Jumper that he looked and saw the vehicle at a distance and waved the kids to cross the road because he figured there was no reason that the driver wouldn't stop. Jumper said the bus driver didn't realize the vehicle wasn't stopping until it was near his bus and he hit his horn at the last second, but there was nothing he could do. The Witness Driving Behind Alyssa ShepherdJumper said the witness told her she had been following the pickup truck in front of her for a while and was going about 55 miles per hour when she caught up to her. The driver said they went around the corner and she could tell there was a school bus stopped with all of its lights activated so she started to slow down. The driver told Jumper that she realized the truck in front of her was not slowing down as she saw the headlights illuminate the kids as they were crossing the road. Alyssa ShepherdShepherd told Jumper that she does not typically drive her husband to work, but that she had just dropped him off Tuesday morning and had three children in the back seat of the vehicle. Shepherd said she was not sure how fast she was going but that she is typically a "slow driver." She told Jumper that she was not late for anything that morning and that she was taking her little brother to her mother's house so that he could get ready for school. Jumper said Shepherd told her she came around the corner and saw the lights, but was not sure what they were and by the time she realized that it was a school bus the kids were right in front of her.  Shepherd is the children's director at Faith Outreach Center, a Foursquare Gospel Church in Rochester, Ind. Rev. Terry Baldwin said Wednesday that they are "Fervently praying for the family suffering this tremendous loss and everyone who has experienced this tragedy."Shepherd was released Tuesday evening on a ,000 bond. The department store isn't dead yet.Macy's topped Wall Street's profit forecasts Tuesday and provided a healthy outlook for this year.The results strongly suggest there is still room for traditional stores in the mall in a world increasingly dominated by the likes of Amazon and Walmart.Macy's chairman and CEO Jeff Gennette said the company was "encouraged" by improvement at the company's brick-and-mortar stores and continued growth in online sales.Gennette said digital revenue posted a double-digit percentage increase for the 34th quarter in a row, a run of more than eight years.And the company is still investing heavily in its Bluemercury chain of specialty beauty stores and the discount outlet Backstage. Macy's said it opened 36 Bluemercury stores and 30 Backstage stores last year, even as it closed 16 Macy's stores.Gennette added during a conference call with analysts that Macy's plans to open 100 more Backstage locations this year, including in malls.Macy's is also selling real estate to shore up its balance sheet. The company said it raised 1 million last year and .3 billion over the past three years by getting rid of some stores, warehouses and parking garages.Macy's is also working with real estate company Brookfield Asset Management on other transactions.Macy's said Tuesday it is selling several floors in its State Street store in Chicago to a real estate fund backed by Brookfield for million. Brookfield plans to convert the floors into office space.All this is good news for Macy's. But one analyst said Macy's needs to do more before its turnaround qualifies as a true Miracle on 34th Street."There is a long tail of shops that look dated, are in sub-optimal locations, and where the customer experience is poor. Macy's must remedy this if it is to transform the business," Neil Saunders, managing director of GlobalData Retail, said in a report.Nonetheless, the real estate transactions and improved sales outlook are two reasons Wall Street has fallen in love with Macy's again.The stock surged nearly 12% in early trading before pulling back a bit. Macy's has soared more than 45% in the past six months.Department store chains Kohl's, Nordstrom and JCPenney — which will all report results later this week — rallied as well Tuesday. GENEVA (AP) — Russia has been banned from using its name, flag and anthem at the next two Olympics or at any world championships for the next two years. The Court of Arbitration for Sport’s ruling also blocks Russia from bidding to host major sporting events for two years. Russian athletes and teams will still be allowed to compete at next year’s Tokyo Olympics and the 2022 Winter Games in Beijing if they are not implicated in doping or covering up positive tests. The punishments are less than the four-year ban the World Anti-Doping Agency had proposed.One small win for Russia is the proposed team name at major events.
