(AP) — The Mormon church is scaling back the Sunday time commitment expected of its members from three hours to two.Russell M. Nelson, president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, announced the change Saturday at the faith's twice-yearly conference. He says the new "home-centered church" strategy reflects the faith's increasingly global membership where not all Latter-day Saints live close to a chapel or even have a chapel.Since 1980, church members have been expected to attend a one-hour sacrament worship service each Sunday, followed by two hours of meetings such as Sunday school and men's and women's groups.RELATED: Latter-day Saints dropping the 'Mormon' monikerUnder the schedule change, which takes effect in January, members will continue attending the one-hour Sunday service but then have only one additional hour of meetings.Quentin L. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- One man is in jail after police say he bit an officer while resisting arrest. The incident happened in the East Village at approximately 4:30 a.m. Monday morning near Market Street. Police say they received a report of a man behaving erratically and when they arrived the man was rolling around in the the middle of the street. Video shows officers approach the man attempting to resolve the situation peacefully when the man backs away and falls on the the 10News Breaking News Tracker vehicle. Police say the man bit an officer on the knuckle as they were detaining him. He was transported to a hospital where police say he vandalized hospital equipment. The unidentified man was then released by the hospital into police custody where he is facing vandalism and resisting arrest charges. 824

LOS ANGELES (KGTV) -- Comedian Kevin Hart suffered “major back injuries” following a crash in Los Angeles early Sunday morning, TMZ reports. According to TMZ, the crash happened around 1 a.m. in Malibu Hills along the Mulholland Highway and Cold Canyon Road. Police tell TMZ Hart was not driving at the time of the crash. The driver of the vehicle also sustained major back injuries. A woman who was also in the car at the time of the crash didn’t require treatment. KABC reports that the three were riding in Hart’s 1970 Plymouth Barracuda when the driver lost control, veered off the road and rolled down an embankment. Authorities say the driver hadn’t been drinking at the time of the crash. 707

Workers removing shelves and coolers from a former No Frills Supermarket in Council Bluffs, Iowa, in January discovered a body behind one of them.The remains were recently identified as those of Larry Ely Murillo-Moncada, a former employee who had been reported missing November 28, 2009.Investigators used his parents' DNA to confirm the identity, and the clothes matched the description of his attire at the time he was reported missing, according to Council Bluffs Police Capt. Todd Weddum.Murillo-Moncada's parents reported their son missing after he became upset and ran out of their home. They told police at the time that he was acting irrationally, possibly because of medication he was taking, Weddum said.Officers contacted family members, other law enforcement agencies, nearby detention centers and even the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency -- he had been deported to Honduras before making his way back to the United States -- but received no information regarding his possible whereabouts.Investigators now believe that Murillo-Moncada went to the supermarket and climbed on top of the coolers. The space was used as storage for merchandise, Weddum said, and employees would sometimes go there to hide when they wanted to take an unofficial break.He is thought to have fallen into the 18-inch gap between the back of the cooler and a wall, where he became trapped. Noise from the coolers' compressors may have concealed any attempts to call for help, according to Weddum.An autopsy found no signs of trauma, and the case has been deemed an accidental death. 1596
