Vice president-elect Kamala Harris confirmed Thursday that her husband would assume the title of "second gentleman" when she is sworn in next month.Because Harris' husband, Doug Emhoff, will be the first man to serve as the spouse of the Vice President, there was some question as to his title. The only people to serve in the role have been women, and all have been referred to as the "second lady."While most media outlets, like the writing-style standard-bearer Associated Press, had already been referring to Emhoff as the second gentlemen, Harris confirmed Emhoff's new title on the record during an interview with CNN on Thursday."I think that the term has evolved into the second gentleman," Harris said.CNN anchor Jake Tapper joked that he preferred the title "second dude," and Harris added that some of Emhoff's friends might be "inclined to call him that."When asked if Harris would call Emhoff the "second gentleman," Harris joked that she would call him "honey."Emhoff, a lawyer, has said he will leave his law practice on Inauguration Day to focus his time in his new role. Uber has announced a new subscription service to help customers avoid price surging.Titled "Ride Pass", the new service is only available in five U.S. cities at the moment.According to the BBC, the service costs .99 a month in Los Angeles and .99 in Austin, Denver, Miami and Orlando. Uber says the service will expand to other U.S. cities in 2019."We want to make Uber a reliable alternative to driving yourself - an affordable option people can use for their everyday transportation needs," product manager Dan Bilen said.The ride-sharing company says users will save up to 15 percent a month when subscribing to "Ride Pass."   663

VALLEY CENTER, Calif., (KGTV) -- Residents who were evacuated by the Miller Fire Friday afternoon were given the go-ahead to return home Saturday morning. Firefighters made tremendous progress by mitigating the 37 acre fire to 75 percent containment. 10News met Sandor Gyetvai minutes after he and his family returned home from being evacuated. He was surveying his property."This is the starting point," Gyetvai said. "It's just frightening. There's just so much fuel load in here."He was one of more than 1,400 people evacuated from the zone in the direct path of the fast-moving fire. "I ran into the house and grabbed the hard drives with all of our family photos from 20 years ago. We grabbed those, we jumped in the car, grabbed the dog and took off," Gyetvai said. He said it was a scary feeling not knowing if they were coming back to a home or a pile of rubble. "It burned the whole back part of our neighbor's property and came up to the back of ours," he said, pointing at their fence. Firefighters made incredible progress and were able to save the home of Gyetvai's neighbor, Christina Bishop. Bishop's backyard was scorched, but she is finding joy in the little things that survived.The pine tree that her now-adult son planted when he was five years old survived. She also found a golfball her kids hit in the backyard from when they were pretending it was driving range. "I'm going to keep it as a souvenir of the big fire," Bishop said smiling. Aside from the heroic acts of the firefighters, Gyetvai says he also has to thank his two dwarf pygmy goats, Cookie and Midnight. He left the fences open for them to run during the fire, but they stayed and continued to eat off of the brush. "The fire came right up to our property and pretty much stopped because there was no brush to burn because they've eaten it all up!" Gyetvai said. (KGTV) — At a high school football game in Valley Center, emotions spilled off the field at halftime, as a head coach got into an altercation with the grandfather of player.Last week, under the Friday night lights at Valley Center High, the visiting squad from Imperial High made a big play in the second quarter."The other team ran past us for 50 yards. The student just didn't get the tackle, so they got the touchdown," said cheerleader Isela Zepeda.Zepeda says it was clear an assistant coach wasn't happy with the player."I heard that the assistant coach grabbed him, pushed him to the bench and started yelling at him," said Zepeda.Fast forward to halftime near the snack bar, as senior Jennifer Perez was coming out of the bathroom."Heard a lot of yelling. Saw a big crowd," said Zepeda. Witnesess say the grandfather of that player involved in the touchdown confronted the assistant coach. "He started choking him out," said Zepeda.Nearby was longtime head coach Rob Gilster."Heard he punched him to get him off. Then I heard he didn't punch him. Bunch of different stories," said senior Yesenia Zepeda, whose brother witnessed part of the fight.Deputies say bystanders broke up the fight. Sources tell 10News the grandfather suffered broken bones in his eye socket. Deputies took statements, but none of the men wanted to press charges and there wasn't enough evidence to make any arrests.The Valley Center Pauma Unified School District confirmed they've begun an investigation. 10News has learned both coaches were placed on administrative leave. 1588
