(KGTV) — Even with the opening of "Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge" this summer, Disneyland reported a drop in attendance last quarter.Disney reported the data during an investor's call this week, noting that domestic parks saw a 3% drop in attendance in its third fiscal quarter ending on June 29. However, per-capita guest spending increased 10%, thanks in part to high ticket prices, and spending on food, beverage, and merchandise.Disney added that the lower attendance at Disneyland, specifically, was fueled by fewer annual passholder visits as the park managed the demand for "Galaxy's Edge." So some people stayed away expecting it would not be a great guest experience," Disney CEO Bob Iger said during the call. Iger added that local hotels also increased their prices around that time expecting more visits. They're among the most popular thing at the park, so long term ... we have no concerns whatsoever about them," Iger said.Disney's domestic parks also experience a decrease in operating income, attributed to higher costs associated with labor and "Galaxy's Edge" expenses. The company says decreases in volume and operating income domestically was partially offset by the increase in average per capita guest spending. (KGTV) - A group of San Diego lawmakers, water agencies and business leaders are joining forces in opposition of a possible new state tax on tap water.Under the proposed State Senate Bill 623, Californians would see an additional 95 cents per month on their water bills.SB623 is one of two articles of legislation being discussed by state lawmakers that could see residents’ water bills go up by more than per month.The goal of the tax would be to clean polluted groundwater around the state, particularly agricultural areas where water is considered undrinkable -- with arsenic, lead and nitrate levels that have been compared to Flint, Michigan’s crisis.State Sen. Bill Monning (D-Carmel), who authored the bill, said SB623 "will establish the Safe and Affordable Drinking Water Fund to provide an ongoing source of funding to finance water improvement projects throughout California.The USGS map below show various water sites around California. Click on the map for more information on the sites. Approximately 300 water systems in California currently have pollutant violations, such as arsenic, lead, nitrates, and uranium that have been linked to nausea and vomiting, cancer, reduced mental functioning in children, nervous system decline, miscarriages, and numerous other health issues.Support of the fund will come from a fertilizer mill fee, a fee on dairies, and a fee assessed on water bills of no more than a month per household, and is anticipated to generate 0 million a year. Low-income rate exemptions are provided for households under 200% of the federal poverty level."The State Water Resources Control Board created a map of water pollutant assessments throughout the state. Click on the map below for more data. Numerous agricultural groups and environmental organizations have come out in support of SB623, but many, including the San Diego County Taxpayers Association and other local groups, have said the bill is “counterproductive because it will make it harder for low-income residents to afford this necessity. (KGTV) - Does a busy California building really have "Riot" buttons in its elevators?Yes.The California Dept. of Tax and Fee Administration building in Sacramento installed the buttons.The building manager says they're supposed to light up to alert riders the elevators won't go to the 1st floor in the event of a security scare, such as a riot. 353

(KGTV) -- A San Diego woman posted video online Tuesday after she spotted a bobcat roaming through her backyard. Radhika Vidya Chari lives in 4S Ranch, not far from the intersection of Camino San Bernardo and Fox Valley Drive.She says she was picking fruit from her lemon tree when she turned around and saw the animal. “I spotted him when I went to get a lemon from the tree and turn around. I ran to get my phone but he had disappeared,” Chari said. After the sighting, Chari says she questioned herself.“I googled to make sure if [sic] what I had seen.”Later that day, Chari says she was chopping vegetables when something caught her eye outside the kitchen window.“Sure enough, it was a bobcat and I took the video,” she continued. Chari says she reported the sighting to the Department of Fish and Wildlife. The department told her to keep her pets indoors and to make loud noises to scare the animal away if she encountered a bobcat again. “I have never seen anything like this before even in the wild.” 1017
