SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A juvenile was arrested Wednesday for allegedly making a threat against a San Diego Unified School District high school.The juvenile was arrested at Serra High School for the alleged threat, according to SDUSD. The suspect told school police the comment was not meant to be taken seriously. While police deemed the threat non-credible, they determined the comment meant the definition of a criminal threat.The language of the threat and how it was issued was not immediately clear.RELATED: DA: Nine minors charged in recent threats to local schoolsClasses at Serra High were held on a normal scheduled Wednesday despite the report. There was reportedly no increase in police presence on the campus either.SDUSD official called for a press conference on Friday at 10:15 a.m. at the Education Center to address the increasing number of local school threats over the past month.Since the Parkland, Fla., school shooting in February, at least 24 school threats have been investigated at county schools.Of the threats, District Attorney Summer Stephan has charged at least nine juveniles."We can't assume that the threat is a joke," Stephan said. 1208

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A local father is recovering from stab wounds after getting attacked by an intruder in his home. The man's 20-year-old son shot and killed that intruder according to San Diego Police. It happened just before 6:30 Tuesday morning at a home in the 6300 block of Lake Shore Drive in San Carlos. Neighbors heard the violence. "I heard the gunshots, it was like three or four gunshots, then screams for help immediately after," said Denise Rolla. When police got to the home, they found the suspect dead in the pool and the 54-year-old homeowner with stab wounds to the upper body. Police say the homeowner's son shot and killed the intruder, who stumbled out the back and landed in the pool. "I heard what turned out to be the suspect fall into the pool and then a couple minutes later, you could see the blood start to spread out through the pool," said Andrew Grogg, who lives right next door. There are walking paths and Mission Trails Golf Course is located behind the homes which are just southwest of Jackson Drive. Neighbors say they don't have a problem with transients in the area, but police say so far, it appears the 38-year-old suspect is homeless. His name hasn't been released. The family owns a tire shop in La Mesa. They are well known and liked in the community. "They're local business owners in the community. They're great neighbors. They're kind, they're nice," said Grogg. Police say so far, the attack appears to be random. 1472

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A Hillcrest woman says the sounds that wake her up every day also make her dread going into her own home.After retiring, Mary Alsop moved from New Jersey two years ago and bought a condo on Centre Street."I was going to read all these books I said I was going to read," said Alsop.But her retirement dream has been interrupted by a constant stream of announcements from the Hillcrest branch of the DMV, starting around 8 in the morning and ending sometime past 6 at night.  A woman's voice can be heard rattling off ticket numbers and the windows that customers should report to."It's endless, repetitive and numbing," said Alsop.In late February, several loudspeakers were installed outside the DMV building. Between her condo and the DMV office are trees, a row of condos and apartments, along with four lanes of traffic and a large median.  Yet, when 10News was in her condo, those sounds could clearly be heard in her bedroom. The joy of reading is now a chore."It intrudes on your thinking and concentration," said Alsop.Shutting the windows reduces some of the noise, but makes it stuffy inside.Alsop isn't alone.  On the app Nextdoor, neighbors have been voicing their frustration for months.  Alsop says she and others have complained in person and online.  She says a few times, the volume has been turned down, only to go back up days later."I"m tremendously stressed out.  I just want my home back," said Alsop.A DMV spokesperson emailed 10news saying they've already agreed to turn down the volume.  10news responded, informing them the neighbors still feel the noise is too loud.  We are awaiting their response.  1698

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A San Diego contractor who admitted to stealing people’s money and not doing the work was sentenced Wednesday. Stephen Hage entered the courtroom as a free man, but left in shackles. Team 10 investigator Adam Racusin exposed the San Diego contractor back in 2018. Late last year, Hage pleaded guilty to three counts of grand theft and two counts of theft from an elder. Wednesday, he was sentenced to one year in custody on the charges. RELATED: Contractor accused of taking money and not finishing the jobWhile he was waiting for sentencing on the charges, a San Diegan now living in Arizona says that hasn’t stopped Hage from working. The man says Hage took his money and didn’t finish the job. The accusations brought up in court today. Prosecutors say total restitution to Hage’s 22 San Diego victims is about ,000. Wednesday, he brought in a check that’s not even close. “To come to court with ,700 after numerous months really isn’t sufficient.”The defense arguing he’s doing the best he can. “He’s not taking money from people and living this life of luxury, he’s barley getting by.
