JAMUL, Calif. (KGTV) -- A man was arrested Tuesday morning after reportedly stabbing a San Diego County Sheriff’s Department K-9 and spraying deputies with bear spray. Deputies were called to the 15000 block of Skyline Truck Trail in Jamul around 10 a.m. Tuesday after receiving reports of a man walking around a vehicle talking to himself. When deputies arrived, they made contact with the man, identified as Richard Lechuga, 29, of San Diego, sitting in a vehicle. When deputies approached Lechuga, he reportedly sprayed three of them with bear spray through an open window. Deputies say Lechuga then brandished what appeared to be a knife and a handgun and stabbed a K-9 in the head and face. Deputies were able to take Lechuga into custody after using less-lethal shotgun rounds, pepper balls and a Taser. The K-9 was taken to a local veterinarian for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The deputies were also treated on scene and Lechuga was taken to the hospital for treatment. Lechuga was arrested for felony assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, assaulting a police animal and resisting arrest. JAMUL, Calif. (KGTV) - A Jamul man is cleaning up and unsure about how to start over, two weeks after the Valley Fire destroyed his home."Numb is a good word. I've cried, too," said Chuck Stevens, 62.The numbness started on Sept. 5. As the Valley fire approached his home on Northwood Drive early in the evening, Stevens, who was driving home from a baby shower, was turned away by authorities, miles from his home."I saw major flames a quarter-mile from my house ... felt helpless, just helpless," said Stevens.He returned two days later and saw the devastation. His double-wide trailer, his home for the last 15 years, was gone, and so was his truck, car, and two motorhomes."Devastation, everything burned to the ground,' said Stevens.His vehicles were only insured for liability. He didn't have wildfire insurance for his home."They would not give it to me because of the age of the mobile home," said Stevens.Stevens says his most painful loss is the hundreds of photos of his late love, his girlfriend Marilyn Norman, who died of a heart attack two years ago. They were together for more than a decade."Just devastated. I can never look at these photos again ... After years go by, you lose some memories if you don't look at the photos. That's what I really miss," said Stevens.Sadly, family members say they have yet to find any photos of the couple anywhere. KANSAS CITY, Kansas – The Kansas Attorney General’s Office Tuesday released indictments against three more officials and entities in connection to the Schlitterbahn Waterpark death in 2016. Jeffrey Wayne Henry, John Timothy Schooley, and Henry & Sons Construction Company, Inc. were indicted by a Wyandotte County Grand Jury.The trio faces reckless second-degree murder charges in addition to aggravated battery and aggravated child endangerment charges stemming from others who rode Verruckt at the company’s Kansas City, Kansas waterpark.Henry was taken into custody Monday by U.S. Marshals in Cameron County, Texas. A spokeswoman for the attorney general’s office said Schooley remains at large.Henry is co-owner of Schlitterbahn and is connected to Henry and Sons Construction Company.Schooley played a key role in the design of Verruckt.It was on Verruckt that then 10-year-old Caleb Schwab died in August 2016.Last week, the attorney general’s office charged the company and its park operations manager at the time of the incident, Tyler Miles, in connection to Schwab’s death.Miles pleaded not guilty in a court hearing in Wyandotte County on Friday. 1189
