Brothers Zach and Asher Swazey are putting together their own newscasts.Its called “SGN San Diego.” The newscast is filled with good news.“You want to have something that will affect people in a positive way,” says 13-year-old Zach.The brothers are now working on episode two. They say it was a lot of work putting everything together.“It took us 2-3 weeks,” says ten-year-old Asher. “We went through multiple stages of editing. It took a little of time to make the script and film.”The boys say they were inspired to start SGN San Diego after watching actor and filmmaker John Krasinski on Youtube.The boys say their video is getting more views, but their headline is to make people feel good.“When you’re making a YouTube channel, it’s not about how many likes you get or how many subscribers, it’s how it affects people.”The brothers say their parents are also a big help. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Authorities are investigating after an inmate died at the George Bailey Detention Facility. According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were notified that an inmate identified as 63-year-old Dennis Lee Curry needed medical help inside his cell on May 11. Deputies say when they arrived, Curry complained of pain to his head and chest, but had no visible injuries. Curry was taken to a local hospital where his condition worsened and he was placed on life support before he died on the morning of May 13. Following an autopsy, it was discovered that Curry died of natural causes. The Sheriff’s Department’s homicide unit was called in to investigate, as they do with all in-custody deaths. Curry was in custody for outstanding warrants related to prior DUI and drug-related charges, according to the department. 860

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — At least two teachers are on leave pending investigations at Southwest Middle School in Otay Mesa West. A spokesperson for Sweetwater Union High School District confirms the investigations, saying the teachers are not allowed on campus at the current time.10News uncovered the investigations when a viewer reported that his daughter had been interviewed in the case. He says an assistant principal questioned her about one teacher's behavior, including conduct that could be considered sexually inappropriate.The father, who asked 10News not to use his name, says he's upset that he was not notified by the school before his daughter was brought in for questioning. "I would have preferred my wife to be there, or I could have had the chance to say no, I don't want her interviewed because these are very serious, morbid conversations to have with 12-year-old girls," the father said.He says the only communication he has had from the school is a robocall voicemail the day after the questioning to notify him that it had occurred and suggesting he ask his student about the topics discussed.A district spokesperson says they are limited in what information can be released by privacy and personnel issues. 1233

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Crews battled a house fire in the Lake Murray area, Saturday night.The fire was reported just before 8:40 p.m. in the 8000 block of June Lake Drive, just off of Cowles Mountain Boulevard.Firefighters arrived on scene at approximately 8:42 p.m. to heavy smoke.Details on how the fire started or if anyone was injured were not immediately available. 375
