SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Los Angeles County health officials are scrambling to prevent the spread of hepatitis A after three people became infected with the potentially deadly virus while in San Diego two months ago.In a motion filed by Los Angeles County's Fifth District Supervisor Kathryn Barger, she is asking the Dept. of Public Health to provide a report within 14 days on current efforts to stop an outbreak and a plan for response should one occur."At this time Public Health does not consider there to be a hepatitis A outbreak in Los Angeles County, however it is important that the County proactively educate the community on ways to prevent hepatitis A infection, and have a response plan in the event that the County does see an increase in hepatitis A cases," Barger said in her prevention plan.Citing public health officials, Barger says that the three people who acquired the infection had been in San Diego in mid-July.READ: Most hand sanitizers will not kill Hepatitis A?San Diego County health officials are in the midst of an hepatitis A epidemic with the first cases reported early this year. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Less than a week before the election, there are reports of political yard signs being stolen and vandalized, and in some cases, appearing in yards.Sunday night, just before midnight in a cul-de-sac in El Cajon, surveillance video shows a car driving slowly before it stops to let someone out."A shadowy figure, looks young, maybe 10 years old, gets out of the vehicle, runs in, and grabs a political sign," said Brandon Spaulding.Spaulding says the sign being taken belonged to his neighbor and it read "Trump/Pence, Make America Great Again." That same night, Spaulding's sign, which had been vandalized days before, also disappeared.The apparent thieves in the Sunday's thefts: a child and an adult."Very disappointed and frustrated ... being a terrible role model. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — In a statement, the City of San Diego says it wasn't given enough time ahead of the July 4 weekend to close beach parking lots.Friday, California Office of Emergency Services sent a letter to city managers in the county asking them to close their beach parking lots ahead of the weekend. The letter was sent to officials in San Diego, Imperial Beach, Coronado, Del Mar, Solana Beach, Encinitas, Carlsbad, and Oceanside."At the time of writing, beaches under the jurisdiction of local governments within San Diego County are the only beaches without visitation restrictions throughout all of Southern California, and therefore are attracting thousands of residents from outside your coastal communities and creating significant potential for disease transmission, particularly in crowded restaurants, bars, retail, and hotels," the letter stated. "... SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – Mexican authorities are investigating a gas explosion at an apartment complex that hospitalized at least three and displaced 150 people on Christmas Day.The explosion happened around noon at the Edificio Hipódromo located at 12609 Col. Alba Roja in Tijuana, one mile south of the stadium Estadio Caliente.This station’s Mexican media partner Televisa reports that the powerful blast caused damage to nearby homes and left debris strewn in the streets on opposite sides of the building.Images from the scene show several windows and glass doors blown out, and collapsed ceilings inside some apartment units.The three victims were described as a 2-year-old child and two adult females, ages 25 and 45. All three were transported by San Diego Fire Rescue to UCSD Medical Center in the United States with second-degree burns. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - In recent weeks colorful bikes have filled the streets of San Diego. Dockless bike ridesharing companies were ready to go once the City Attorney's Office said they could operate. The city says LimeBike, Ofo, Mobike and Bird Scooter all have the proper licenses to operate here.LimeBike says in just two weeks they've logged 30,000 rides.The San Diego Bike Coalition supports the companies and believes the accessibility and affordability will help the city in its climate action plan. However, some residents have major concerns with the bikes, reporting that they're being left in the middle of sidewalks and on people's property. They've also witnessed scooter riders not wearing a helmet and people riding where they're not supposed to.Zack Bartlett, the general manager for LimeBike in San Diego, says they have an operations team patrolling the city 24/7 to run safety checks and reposition bikes improperly parked.
