SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are investigating the death of a man who was found with stab wounds in a gas station parking lot in Webster.San Diego police said they received a 911 call just before 10:30 p.m. Thursday regarding a possible stabbing victim in the 4300 block of Home Avenue.Officers arrived to find a 31-year-old Black man with “apparent trauma to his upper torso,” according to SDPD officials.The victim was eventually taken to the hospital for emergency surgery, but he later died from his injuries. His name was not released.SDPD Homicide Unit investigators learned the stabbing occurred in an area of the 4600 block of Home Avenue, and the victim was able to drive himself to the parking lot of an Arco ampm gas station, where he was found.Police said the only information available regarding the suspected attacker is a Black male wearing a dark-colored sweatshirt.Anyone with information on this case is asked to call the SDPD Homicide Unit at 619-531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477. 1015

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police responded Monday after a vehicle crashed into a Chick-fil-A in Mira Mesa.The crash happened on the 10700 block of Camino Ruiz near Mira Mesa Community Park. Authorities say no one was injured.Due to the crash, the inside of the restaurant was closed for the day as a structural engineer inspected the damage. Authorities haven't said what caused the crash.  407

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Police have identified the man who died in custody after being arrested in Little Italy earlier this month.Vito Vitale, also known as Todd James Vitale, 39, died at the hospital after being taken into custody.Witnesses say Vitale was running in and out of traffic naked near the 600 block of West Grape Street around 11 p.m. Friday yelling for help.People who witnessed the events also told police that the man appeared to be under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.RELATED: Police investigate death of man arrested in Little ItalyAfter placing Vitale into handcuffs, several witnesses had to help officers restrain him. Police provided medical aid to Vitale until paramedics arrived.Police also identified the officers involved in the incident as Greg Pilkington, a 10-year veteran of the department, Robert Nelson, a three-year veteran and Carlos Diaz, a one-year veteran. 915

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- On Thursday, January 3, the newest members of Congress will head to Washington D.C. to be sworn in. Among them is Mike Levin, who will represent California's 49th Congressional District. Levin, an environmental attorney, ran a campaign focused on younger voters. During the campaign, he cast his opponent, Diane Harkey as a “rubber stamp" for President Donald Trump. The district was previously represented by Darrell Issa. Juan Varges of the 51st Congressional District will also head to Washington. Varges made headlines recently after pointing the finger at the Trump administration for the situation at the border after hundreds of migrants rushed the San Ysidro Port of Entry. The 51st Congressional District consists of south San Diego County, Imperial County and California’s entire U.S./Mexico border. Also in Washington for the swearing in is Congressman Scott Peters of California’s 52nd District. The district includes the cities of Coronado and Poway as well as most of northern San Diego. Peters was first elected in 2012. In 2018, Peters introduced legislation to provide a tax credit who paid more than 30 percent of their gross income on rent and utilities. Rep. Susan Davis was re-elected in 2018 and represents California’s 53rd Congressional District. The district stretches from I-5 and Balboa Park through Mission Valley to East County and includes much of the heart of San Diego.Davis has been serving the district since 2001 and in 2018, won against her opponent, Morgan Murtaugh. Heading to Washington also is Congressman Duncan Hunter of California’s 50th Congressional District. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are investigating after they say four teenagers were beaten, stabbed and robbed near a City Heights elementary school Saturday night.Police say the four teens were in a skate park near Cherokee Point Elementary School on the 3900 block of Landis Street when they were approached by a group of men.According to police, the man tried to start an argument, so then teens ran to a pedestrian bridge where another group of men was waiting for them.Police say the approximately 15 men punched and kicked all four victims and stole their cell phones and wallets.One of the victims was stabbed in the elbow and another was cut on the finger.One of the victims was taken to the hospital for his injuries, police say. The condition of the victims wasn’t specified.   806
