LONDON, March 13 (Xinhua) -- The Center for Creative Business in London hosted on Thursday Creative Exchange with China, exploring the possibilities of business ventures between the two countries in the creative industry.     The conference, which is aimed to help creative businesses from both China and Britain to get to know each other before exploring the business potentials of the rising industry, has attracted some 200 creative entrepreneurs, creative business managers and executives, policy makers, practitioners academics and researchers.     In his keynote speech delivered at the conference, Michael Bichard, rector of the University of the Arts London, said within the next two years, Britain's creative industries sector is expected to overtake the financial sector as the country's most significant economy. At the same time, China will move ahead of Germany as the world's third largest economy.     "If we remain isolated, we would not be able to achieve our creative goals of building global brands. To make collaborations effective, it takes much deeper look into the respective industries instead of superficial ones," he said.     Bichard, who is also chair of Design Council UK, hopes that Design Council would cooperate with China not only academically, but across the business to develop tomorrow's creative industry.     However, Bichard noted that creative exchange is not just about money, it's about understanding. BEIJING -- China's education authority has revoked the license of a private school that took in problem teenagers and claimed to offer strict discipline after it was found abusing students.A Ministry of Education investigation confirmed that staff at Dadongfang Xingzou School, in Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality, had physically and verbally abused teenage students, said ministry spokesman Wang Xuming at a press conference.The Beijing Times reported in June that a 14-year-old Beijing boy took drugs and jumped from the second floor of a dormitory building in the school after being repeatedly beaten by teachers.The boy said he tried to commit suicide so that his parents could learn what happened to him as he was denied contact with them for the first three months in the school, according to the newspaper story.Some desperate Chinese parents send their children, who do not behave well in normal schools, to boarding schools called "xingzou" schools that offer paramilitary-style discipline."Although schools like the Dadongfang Xingzou School take in problem students, they must follow laws and regulations like other schools. But some of them have done things wrong and many have no proper government approval," Wang said.Investigators found the school had been granted a license as a juvenile training center, but was not qualified as a boarding school or to offer paramilitary education.The ministry had started a national survey of xingzou schools, focusing on illegal education methods and teacher qualifications, and those without proper licenses would be closed, Wang said.As the administration was still working on a regulation on non-school juvenile training centers, it would suspend processing any such applications, he said.According to the Beijing Times, the Dadongfang Xingzou School had hired former military personnel and prison wardens as discipline teachers.

China Securities Regulatory Commission announced here on Friday that it has approved the initial public offering (IPO) plans of three domestic companies.     They are the Sichuan-based software and equipment provider Wisesoft, nitrocellulose producer Sichuan Nitrocell Corporation, and husbandry company Shandong Minhe.     It also approved the issue of three stock funds, bringing the total of newly approved funds of this kind to 18 since February. A bond fund also won approval.     New funds approved since February equals half of all funds approved last year, which would injects more capital into the declining stock market.     Though the market is less sensitive to new fund issue as more funds win approval, the accumulation of capital would possibly lead to positive short-term change in the market, analysts said.
