TASHKENT, May 3 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Finance Minister Xie Xuren made three proposals to the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for its future development here on Monday.At a business session of the 43rd annual meeting for ADB Board of Governors that kicked off Monday, Xie said the ADB should fully tap its potential as a knowledge platform in seeking ways for Asia 's future development.It should also promote collective economic expansion of Asia by deepening regional economic cooperation, said Xie.Thirdly, the ADB should raise its assistance efficiency and enhance its capacity for institution building, while making active contribution to the regional prosperity and stability, he added.All Asian members are still facing difficult tasks of retaining economic growth and adjusting economic structure, because the basis for world's recovery from the global financial crisis has not been consolidated so far, said the Chinese minister.On the sidelines of ADB's first annual meeting in Central Asia, Xie also met with Uzbek President Islam Karimov, Uzbek First Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Rustam Azimov and heads of delegations including Bangladesh, New Zealand and Fiji.

BEIJING, April 5 (Xinhua) -- The Communist Party of China (CPC) has set up more than 60,000 new grassroots party organizations nationwide while rectifying some 50,000 slack branches during an 18-month campaign to boost party building.The campaign of studying and implementing the Scientific Outlook on Development, launched in September 2008, has covered all the 75 million Party members in more than 370 branches across the country.The Scientific Outlook on Development, set forth by General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee and President Hu Jintao in 2003, emphasizes the well-being of the people and a comprehensive, coordinated and sustainable approach to development.Statistics show that during the campaign, more than 1.4 million items of outdated bylaws were abolished in units and departments nationwide. In addition, some 2.1 million new ones were issued and 2.5 million were amended. The bylaws cleanup covered science and technology development, environmental protection, people's livelihood, anti-corruption among other aspects.In the non-public sector, 12,000 new CPC branches were set up during the campaign, and another 24,000 are in the pipeline. BEIJING, April 28 (Xinhua) -- China's human resource official said Wednesday the country will step up efforts to improve social services for migrant rural workers in a report on protecting migrant rural workers' interests.In a report to the Standing Committee of the National People' s Congress， Yang Zhiming, vice minister of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, said relevant efforts will be listed in the next five-year plan,Yang said the ministry will increase the coverage of labor contract for migrant rural workers, improve their working conditions and realize the portability of old-age insurance for them.Yang said in the report that currently, many migrant rural workers still face difficulty in getting payment in time, signing labor contracts with their employers, and suffer from poor working conditions.The report also noted progress in protecting the rights and interests of migrant rural workers, such as more legal assistance to migrant rural workers.According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the number of farmers who worked away from their farmland for over six months reached 229.78 million in the year 2009.
