BEIJING, July 1 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping on Wednesday urged Party members to better facilitate their daily work by applying their knowledge and enhanced research ability obtained at a top Party school.     Xi, also president of the Party School of the Communist Party of China(CPC) Central Committee, made the remarks Wednesday in a meeting with representatives of officials who are in the school for advanced studies and training. Wednesday marks the CPC's 88th birthday. BEIJING, April 28 (Xinhua) -- China Tuesday called for new initiatives to boost the China-France comprehensive strategic partnership.     The call was made during a meeting between Chinese President Hu Jintao and former French President Jacques Chirac, who is in Beijing at the invitation of the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs. Hu praised Chirac, on his ninth visit to China, as an old friend of the Chinese people for his contribution to the China-France friendship.     "The Chinese people will never forget this," Hu was quote as saying by a press release from Chinese Foreign Ministry.     Hu said the consolidation of ties, especially in the context of the international financial crisis, would help tackle the crisis and be conducive to promoting long-term peace, stability and prosperity.     "I hope the two countries and two peoples can make joint efforts to advance the development of bilateral strategic partnership," Hu said.     Chirac highlighted the achievements of China in its development, calling the development "a positive factor" in world prosperity, according to the press release.     China ranked as a world power through its own efforts, Chirac said, and its peaceful development was helpful to maintaining stability and prosperity.

L'AQUILA, Italy, July 8 (Xinhua) -- Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo, who was to attend outreach session of the G8 Summit on behalf of Chinese President Hu Jintao, met here on Wednesday with Jacob Zuma, president of South Africa, calling for deepening cooperation between the two countries.     During the meeting, Dai conveyed President Hu's greetings and congratulations to Zuma on his victory in the general election, according to a press release issued by the Chinese delegation. BEIJING, June 29 (Xinhua) -- Chinese State Councilor Liu Yandong met here Monday with Henry Kissinger, the former U.S. secretary of state.     Liu highlighted the robust growth of the China-U.S. ties since the two forged diplomatic relations 30 years ago, noting that the bilateral relations scored a good beginning and maintains positive momentum since the Obama administration took office.     China is committed to work with the United States to further promote the bilateral dialogue and cooperation at various levels and in national development, education, science and technology and culture, Liu said.
