SCOTTSDALE, AZ — Emergency crews have recovered a body after an incident at a Scottsdale aquatic park.Crews were at Eldorado Aquatic Park near Hayden and McDowell road early Monday morning.Scottsdale police say around 12:30 a.m.; an officer was making rounds in the area when he heard what sounded like muffled calls for help.He worked to locate where the calls may be coming from and eventually found them to be coming from a pipe that helps support one of the water slides.Officers were communicating with the victim, said to be a transient, but lost communication with him around 2 a.m.Officials say the man reportedly went up over a tall fence surrounding the park and was up on the slide. He then somehow fell into the pipe structure, where he became trapped.Crews had to dismantle the slide in order to get the victim's body out.He has since been identified as 31-year-old Ryan Kelly. (AP) — Fire investigators looking into what caused a wildfire that killed four people in far Northern California have taken possession of equipment belonging to Pacific Gas and Electric. PG&E says in a filing Friday with the Public Utilities Commission that investigators with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection seized some of its electrical equipment near where the Zogg Fire started Sept. 27. The fire erupted in Shasta County during high winds and quickly grew, killing four people in the community of Igo, population 600. It later spread to neighboring Tehama County. 623

(KGTV) -- Dozens of migrants seeking asylum in the United States are being processed Tuesday afternoon, according to an attorney.Eight migrants were allowed in for processing Monday night followed by dozens more Tuesday afternoon and evening. The rest of the migrant caravan is waiting in Tijuana to be allowed in and processed. The attorney, who is working with the group of migrants, said members of the caravan were asked to choose among themselves who would be processed.MAP: Where is the migrant caravan from?Women and children were reportedly in the first groups of migrants selected Monday and Tuesday. An official with U.S. Customs and Border Protection said that, although this group of migrants has been gaining national attention, the process the group is going through is standard.As far as the process the migrants are going through, CBP said that individuals who don’t have proper travel documents and try to enter into the U.S. may be subject to expedited removal.PHOTOS: Migrant caravan makes way to U.S-Mexico borderThose in expedited removal who express fear of return are then referred to United States Citizenship and Immigration Services.Migrants then go through a “fear interview” to determine whether or not they have a credible fear of persecution or torture.The San Ysidro border inspection facility can hold 300 people. At times, this has required us to limit the number of people we can bring in the port facility for processing at a given time, including in 2016 when an influx of Haitians arrived at the California border, and as recently as within the past six months. In recent days, San Ysidro has exceeded port capacity due to an increase in arrivals of undocumented persons making asylum claims or presenting complex cases. Accordingly, CBP has had to limit the number of new arrivals for processing. SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say a California community college instructor with ties to the far-right extremist "boogaloo" movement is in custody on suspicion of sending misogynistic and threatening letters to a county health officer involving the pandemic. The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday that deputies arrested 55-year-old Alan Viarengo and seized 138 firearms and thousands of rounds of ammunition from his home in Gilroy. Viarengo is charged with felony counts of stalking and threatening a public official. Dr. Sara Cody, the health officer for Santa Clara County, has been one of the nation's most visible proponents of social distancing and wearing masks. (AP) — Orange County’s new interim health officer says he will lift a requirement that residents wear face coverings in public and instead recommend they do so to help reduce the spread of the coronavirus. The change comes three days after the previous health officer abruptly resigned following threats she received over her order requiring masks as the county allowed more businesses to reopen. Residents have railed against the requirement at public meetings. Los Angeles and San Diego counties have similar requirements. The head of the Orange County Medical Association says using a mask is a small sacrifice to protect others. 658
