Survivors of the 2016 Pulse nightclub shooting are opening old wounds to seek justice as the trial of the gunman's widow opens in Orlando.Jury selection begins Thursday in the federal trial of Noor Salman, who is charged with providing material support to a foreign terrorist organization and obstruction of justice for allegedly misleading law enforcement agents investigating the massacre on June 12, 2016.Salman has pleaded not guilty to all the charges. If convicted, she could face life in prison.Prosecutors believe Salman was aware of her husband's plans and will argue that she could have tipped off authorities to prevent the mass shooting at the gay nightclub, which left 49 people dead and more than 50 others wounded.Salman's attorneys will claim that their client had no prior knowledge about Omar Mateen's plans and that she was a wife enduring her husband's abuse. One of her attorneys has said that Salman suffers post-traumatic stress disorder due to years of physical and mental abuse, CNN affiliate WKMG reported. Selecting a fair jury 1067

The 2020 election will be by far the most expensive campaign ever run, according to the election finance organization Center for Responsible Politics. The organization said this week that this year’s federal election will cost billion, nearly double from the amount spent last year.Spending on the presidential election alone is projected to be .6 billion, with over billion being spent in House and Senate races.Open Secrets says Joe Biden is set to become the first presidential candidate to ever raise billion, and that figure does not include money spent by PACs.Fueling the cost of this year’s election, billionaires Tom Steyer and Michael Bloomberg pumped .4 billion into the primary race. All told, Democrats have spent nearly billion so far, which is about billion more than Republicans.A plurality of the fundraising, some 41%, comes from large donors. Small-level donors make up 22% of campaign contributions.“Donors poured record amounts of money into the 2018 midterms, and 2020 appears to be a continuation of that trend — but magnified,” said Sheila Krumholz, executive director of the Center for Responsive Politics. “Ten years ago, a billion-dollar presidential candidate would have been difficult to imagine. This cycle, we’re likely to see two.”While individual donations are capped, funds to PACs are not. The highest-contributing individuals in this year’s election are Sheldon Adelson and his wife Miriam who have spent 3 billion. The Adelson’s sent million to pro-Trump super PAC Preserve America.Democrats have benefited from Bloomberg’s generosity. The former presidential candidate has spent 7 million on Democrats, including million to help Biden win the states of Texas and Ohio. The Center for Responsible Politics operates the campaign finance website opensecrets.org. Tell us what you want, what you really, really want, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.Spice Girls member Mel B appeared on the daytime talk show "The Real" Tuesday and sparked speculation that the group would be performing at the upcoming royal wedding in May.The hubbub began when co-host Loni Love asked Mel B if she knew anyone who would be attending."I'm going," Mel B said quietly. The audience cheered as the co-hosts of the show exclaimed at the news.Things got really hectic when Love asked if the Spice Girls would be performing."I swear I'm just like..." Mel B started, before Love jumped in and said, "Yes, they are performing! Yes!""I need to go," Mel B said after throwing into the air the papers she was holding. "You're going to get me fired! I'm going to be fired!"She then tried to backtrack."Let's not talk about it anymore," Scary Spice said. "Let's pretend that I never said that."Fans were already buzzing about the possibility of a Spice Girls reunion after a group photo was published of the members having lunch together at Geri Halliwell Horner's house recently.Mel B told the women of "The Real" it was the first time in years that all five members had been together. She said their former manager, Simon Fuller, also joined them. The picture wasn't even supposed to go public, Mel B said."First of all, none of us were meant to post that picture," she said. "We all just took pictures, you know like, candidly. So when I saw Victoria post the picture, I was like, 'Noooo!' I didn't get the lighting right, my makeup wasn't on."  1563

TAMPA, Fla. — Nearly 90 friends in the Tampa, Fla., area are betting big on their Mega Millions chances Tuesday. The group pooled together their money to purchase 11,000 tickets from a Ybor City neighborhood market, according to The Tampa Bay Times. And it's not the first time the group has gone in together for the prize either. The group has already reportedly spent ,000 on Mega Millions tickets, and rolled over winnings of ,224, according to the paper.Ryan McGuinness, who purchased the tickets, told the Times, "Everybody is back in."The group is hoping those past winnings pay off with Tuesday's drawing for the .6 billion jackpot. With a lump sum option of 5 million, divide that by 90 and each is walking away with at least million — before taxes. Not a bad chunk of change if you're willing to wait for all those tickets to be printed. If no one wins the Mega Millions jackpot yet again Tuesday, that pot could grow to an estimated  billion for Friday's drawing. 1015
