BEIJING, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) -- Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi on Thursday urged New Zealand to improve food safety after toxic bacteria were found in imported dairy products from the island country's dairy giant Fonterra.
The public was worried about possible corruption and unfair market competition due to their influence.
Wang made the remarks when meeting with foreign officials attending the second China-Pacific Island Countries Economic Development and Cooperation Forum in Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong Province.
The other regions were ordered to cut their PM10 readings by 5 to 15 percent, with only Hainan and Yunnan provinces and Tibet Autonomous Region, where air pollution is relatively slight, given no specific goals but "continuous improvements" must be made.
The government has vowed to improve agricultural product quality and food safety. The environment where agricultural products grow will be improved, the statement said.
