A Detroit 2-year-old born with Spina Bifida has defied the odds and taken her first steps without a walker.A video, which has been shared thousands of times on Facebook, Skylar Turner taking her first steps into her father's arms without her walker.Shawn and Unissa Turner say Skylar is beating the odds and proving to everyone that she will walk."It was amazing," Shawn Turner said. "It was unreal because this is the moment you always wish for."At just two years old, Skylar has already endured more than most girls her age."When you’re told that your child has a birth defect before they come out, it changes your whole outlook on life," Shawn Turner said. Spina Bifida is a birth defect where the spinal cord doesn’t fully develop, making it difficult for those affected to walk.At first, Unissa Turner took Skyler's diagnosis really hard, and says she still tends to blame herself."I do still feel that it’s my fault, but I know it’s not," she said. "But, I definitely took it really hard."A determined toddler, Skylar wasn’t going to let her condition stop her from taking her first steps, or even dancing. She loves Taylor Swift and dances when one of her songs is on.The special moment of Skylar trying to walk to her father, not once, not twice – but three times, until eventually making it into his arms was all caught on camera. The video, which was posted to Facebook on July 23, has been viewed more than 190,000 times and shared over 3,000 times. "I’m just so thankful, so grateful, just overjoyed that we have so many people rooting for us to get her where she needs to be," Unissa Turner said. For Skylar, it’s just the beginning of the endless possibilities and more miracles to come."When she walked into my arms and after I got over the initial feelings, I knew this was only the first step," Shawn Turner said. The Turners say one day they would like to have another child, but not anytime soon.Watch viral video below:  2056

A day after Donald Trump called Alec Baldwin's impersonation of him "terrible," Baldwin returned as the President on "Saturday Night Live."The NBC variety show came back from hiatus with Baldwin's Trump delivering a prepared statement on gun violence while sitting next to Beck Bennett's Mike Pence and Cecily Strong's Dianne Feinstein."We have to take a hard look at mental health, which I have so much of," Baldwin as Trump said, referring to one of the gun-related issues raised after last month's mass shooting at a school in Florida."I have one of the healthiest mentals. My mentals are so high."Baldwin's Trump then went back and forth on the debate saying that he loves the Second Amendment but that maybe we need to "take everyone's guns away.""Don't worry, Mike. I met with the NRA, they gave me 30 million good reasons not to change a thing," Baldwin's Trump said to the fake Pence. On Friday morning, the President and Baldwin engaged in a Twitter feud after?the President mocked the actor's impression of him."Alec Baldwin, whose dying mediocre career was saved by his terrible impersonation of me on SNL, now says playing me was agony. Alec, it was agony for those who were forced to watch," Trump said on Twitter.Baldwin responded on Twitter Friday by saying, "Agony though it may be, I'd like to hang in there for the impeachment hearings, the resignation speech, the farewell helicopter ride to Mara-A-Lago. You know. The Good Stuff."On Saturday night, Baldwin continued to mock Trump by having the President present his concerns over Wakanda, the fictional African nation from Marvel's "Black Panther.""They're all beating us," Baldwin's Trump said. "China, Japan, Wakanda. Wakanda is laughing at us. They have flying cars."Baldwin's Trump declared that he always said that he would run the country like a business, but that the business is a "Waffle House at 2 a.m.""Crazies everywhere, staff walking out in the middle of their shift, managers taking money out of the cash register to pay off the Russian mob," Baldwin's President Trump said.He then wrapped up the sketch alongside Kate McKinnon's Jeff Sessions to say the show's signature phrase, "Live from New York ... It's Saturday night!" 2218

A former teammate of Colin Kaepernick condemned the NFL's recent embrace of peaceful protest as "half-hearted," calling it "PR for the current business climate."According to former 49ers S Eric Reid, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has not personally called to apologize to Kaepernick despite the league's admission that they were "wrong" not to embrace peaceful protest sooner."What the @NFL is doing is half-hearted at best," Reid tweeted Monday. "@nflcommish has gotten comfortable saying he "was wrong" as if his mere acknowledgement reconciles his admitted wrongdoing. He hasn't even called Colin to apologize, let alone reconcile, proving this is only PR for the current business climate."In 2016, Reid was the first player to kneel beside Kaepernick during the national anthem to demonstrate against systemic racism and police brutality.Kaepernick opted out of his contract with the 49ers following the 2016 season. Despite being just 28 at the time and a few years removed from a Super Bowl appearance, Kaepernick has not since been offered a contract by any NFL team. The league has since admitted it was wrong for "not listening to NFL players" regarding anthem protests, but has not mentioned Kaepernick specifically. In the wake of a wave of civil unrest following the death of George Floyd, the Goodell and the NFL released a statement saying that they "encourage all to speak out and peacefully protest." In that same statement, the NFL condemned racism and said it believes that "Black Lives Matter."On Thursday, prior to the 2020 season opener between the Chiefs and Texans, the NFL released a video of Alicia Keys performing "Lift Every Voice and Sing" that featured images of Kaepernick kneeling during the anthem.Reid said Monday that it was "diabolical" that the league used the images of Kaepernick despite the fact that he is still without a job."Roger Goodell uses video of Colin courageously kneeling to legitimize their disingenuous PR while simultaneously perpetuating systemic oppression, that the video he's using fights against, by continuing to rob Colin of his career," Reid said. "It's diabolical."Reid himself has claimed he was blackballed for kneeling alongside Kaepernick. Reid played out his contract with the 49ers and went unsigned in the offseason. During one interview with the Bengals, he claimed team owner Mike Brown specifically asked if he would continue kneeling, and when Reid declined to answer, he was not offered a contract. In 2019, he and Kaepernick settled their collusion grievances against the league for an undisclosed amount.Reid was signed by the Carolina Panthers during the 2018 season. After spending the 2019 season with the team, he was released and is currently a free agent.Dozens of players chose to kneel or raise fists during the national anthem prior to week 1 games on Sunday, including seven teams who chose not to take the field. 2908

A fifth person has died from his wounds as a result of Tuesday's Strasbourg Christmas market attack, the Paris prosecutor's office told CNN on Sunday.A gunman burst into the market in the evening hours Tuesday as crowds did their holiday shopping, killing three and wounding 13 more. The fourth victim, Antonio Megalizza, an Italian journalist who had been on life support since the attack, died on December 14, French authorities told CNN.CNN affiliate BFMTV reported that a 45-year-old man visiting from Thailand, an Afghan father of three who had been living in France for 15 years, and a man from Strasbourg also died in Tuesday's market attack. The authorities are calling the mass shooting a terrorist attack. Police killed the gunman Thursday night near the marketplace. The shooter, Cherif Chekatt, was known to prison officials for being radicalized and for his proselytizing behavior in detention in 2015, Paris prosecutor Rémy Heitz said, adding that he had been incarcerated multiple times in the past. French prosecutors said the suspect shouted the Arabic phrase "Allahu Akbar," meaning "God is greatest," at the time of the attack. 1152
