The mystery surrounding a little boy found sleeping on a Buffalo porch continues to grow. Buffalo Police updated the media late Tuesday morning, describing this as a, "very, very complicated case." The boy's grandmother tells 7 Eyewitness News reporter Ali Touhey the boy's name is Noelvin and that they intend to take custody of him. Meantime, we're told, the toddler's parents, 24-year-old Nicole Mersed and 31-year-old Miguel Valentin, haven't made contact with their family since Sunday. According to police, they will be issuing pictures of Noelvin's parents and a family friend, anyone with information on their whereabouts is asked to contact the department's homicide unit at 716-851-4466. The boy's grandmother tried to take custody of him, but that request was temporarily denied. She's expected to be back in Buffalo in October for a custody hearing. 1005

The captain of a cruise ship hit by the coronavirus told passengers it's headed to the port of Oakland, California. Grand Princess Capt. John Smith told passengers in an audio address Saturday night that the ship will dock in Oakland. The company that owns the ship says it is expected to arrive on Monday. Smith told passengers that people who require “acute medical treatment and hospitalization” will be taken to health care facilities in California. Other guests will be taken to federally operated isolation sites or transported out of California. The captain said he was not given any information about non-U.S. citizens. The ship is carrying more than 3,500 people from 54 countries. 703

The American Academy of Pediatrics is calling on the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission to immediately recall the Fisher-Price Rock 'n Play after it has been tied to at least 32 sleep-related infant deaths. A new analysis by Consumer Reports, published on April 8, has tied 32 infant deaths to the rocker. This comes after it was tied to AAP says the previous warning did not go far enough to ensure safety and protect infants. That warning asked parents to stop using the product when the infant reaches 3 months of age or is capable of rolling over. The new Consumer Reports analysis concluded that the 32 deaths, which took place between 2011 and 2018, included babies that were less than 3-months old. The cause of death listed for some of the babies was asphyxia, or the inability to breathe caused by the babies’ position. “This product is deadly and should be recalled immediately,” said Kyle Yasuda, MD, FAAP, president of the American Academy of Pediatrics. “When parents purchase a product for their baby or child, many assume that if it’s being sold in a store, it must be safe to use. Tragically, that is not the case. There is convincing evidence that the Rock ‘n Play inclined sleeper puts infants’ lives at risk, and CPSC must step up and take immediate action to remove it from stores and prevent further tragedies.” AAP is urging parents of children of all ages to stop using the product immediately. Some have dents and dings. The roads are awash in glass, so much so they glisten. The air reeks of dust and pollen.Some 60 emergency responders and cleanup people are on the scene of the blast, which happened hours earlier after someone smelled gas.Authorities said 17 people, including a firefighter, were hospitalized.
