BEIJING, Jan. 3 (Xinhua) -- The number of traffic violations has plummeted since the "harshest-ever" traffic rules took effect on Jan. 1, 2013, the Ministry of Public Security announced on Thursday.
The number of applicants rose from 187,420 in January 2011 to 1.42 million in February this year. Only one out of 77 applicants were awarded car registration plates in February.
The move marks the phasing out of a system that allowed students of government-funded postgraduate programs to enjoy tuition waivers.
"We will further expand free trade negotiations with other countries and regional organizations. But first, we will promote the early harvest of the results of the Doha Round of trade talks," he said.
