VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - A 17-year-old boy was arrested in Vista Thursday on suspicion of making terrorist threats against a north San Diego County campus, Oceanside Police said Friday. The Mission Vista High School student allegedly made the threat on Snapchat, posting “Don’t go to school tomorrow because the cleansing will commence,” according to investigators. Other students saw the post and reported it to school officials, who contacted police. The Vista Unified School District sent an automated message to parents to notify them about the threat. "In this situation the systems we have in place worked. A student saw something and said something. Please take this opportunity to speak with your child about school safety, and encourage them to be vigilant and to report any suspicious behavior or information they may have that jeopardizes their safety and that of others," said Lisa Contreras, VUSD Director of Communications.Contreras told 10News that the alleged threat did not target a specific campus or individual. And although both the House the Senate were slated to come into session briefly Thursday afternoon, few senators or representatives were expected to be around for it.President Donald Trump is vowing to hold the line on his demand for money to build a border wall. Back from the 29-hour trip to visit U.S. troops, Trump tweeted Thursday that "we desperately need" a wall on the Mexico border, funding for which has been a flashpoint between the White House and Congress ever since Trump took office.He called on Democrats in Congress to fund his wall, saying the shutdown affects their supporters. He asserted without evidence: "Do the Dems realize that most of the people not getting paid are Democrats?"Virginia Democratic Sen. Mark Warner called Trump's comments "outrageous." In his tweet, he added: "Federal employees don't go to work wearing red or blue jerseys. They're public servants. Walgreens has finally figured out a way to buy Rite Aid -- or about half of it, at least.The pharmacy giant said Tuesday that federal regulators have accepted its .4 billion deal to buy 1,932 Rite Aid stores. That will leave Rite Aid with about 2,600 stores once the deal is finished.The purchase marks the end of a two-years-long fight for Walgreens, which initially tried to buy Rite Aid outright for billion in October 2015.The merger agreement faced intense scrutiny from the start, since it would have left the United States with just two major pharmacy chains: Walgreens and CVS.The agreement was reworked several times over the past few years as Walgreens scaled back the number of stores it intended to purchase. In June, the company tried for a .2 billion deal that would have handed it 2,186 Rite Aid stores.Walgreens recently revised its deal again, said company spokesman Michael Polzin. Polzin said that the waiting period for review by the Federal Trade Commission expired last night at midnight, effectively giving Walgreens the regulatory clearance it needs to move forward.The Rite Aid pharmacies that Walgreens plans to buy will eventually be rebranded as Walgreens stores. VISTA (CNS) - A professional photographer who sexually assaulted four teenage girls during modeling sessions at a rented Carlsbad residence where he had set up a temporary studio was sentenced to 25 years in state prison Friday.Robert Koester, 52, pleaded guilty last month to 23 felonies related to raping and inappropriately touching the teens -- some of whom were drugged and unconscious during the abuse -- as well as creating child pornography of the girls.Koester also faces federal charges locally, as well as charges in his home state of Oregon, where he's accused of assaulting additional victims.RELATED: Modeling photographer pleads guilty to sex crimes against teenagersDeputy District Attorney Dan Owens said the investigations against Koester began with one of his local victims, identified in court only as Jane Doe 1, who came forward regarding the abuse and "put a stop" to his ongoing crimes. Based on her statements, Koester was arrested Nov. 13, 2018, in Carlsbad."The victims in this case showed extraordinary strength in coming forward and speaking out against this man who victimized them," according to Owens, who said the case has had "a tremendous impact on the victims who were involved in this case, not only them, but their families."Koester, who had been hired as a contract worker by Carlsbad-based Frank Model Management, raped and took nude photographs of the girls, whose ages ranged from 15 to 17 during the San Diego County incidents. WASHINGTON (AP) — House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says she is ordering the removal from the Capitol of portraits honoring four previous House speakers who served in the Confederacy.In a letter Thursday to the House clerk, Pelosi directed the immediate removal of portraits depicting these former speakers: Robert Hunter of Virginia, James Orr of South Carolina, and Howell Cobb and Charles Crisp, both of Georgia.Pelosi says the House was unaware of the portraits until an inventory was taken of the chamber’s statues.“We didn't know about this until we were taking inventory of the statues,” she said. “And the curator told us that there were four paintings of speakers in that and the Capitol of the United States four speakers who had served in the Confederacy.”Pelosi says that "there is no room in the hallowed halls of Congress or in any place of honor for memorializing men who embody the violent bigotry and grotesque racism of the Confederacy.″Pelosi says the portraits will be taken down in observance of Juneteenth, a June 19 holiday that celebrates the end of slavery in the U.S. 1094
