BEIJING, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- China's top political advisor, Jia Qinglin, attended a ground-breaking ceremony for construction of Beijing Hyundai Motor's third auto plant in Shunyi District in suburban Beijing Sunday. Prior to the ceremony, Jia met with Hyundai Motor Chairman Chung Mong-koo and other guests. China and the Republic of Korea (ROK) have been upgrading relations, as well as political and cultural exchanges, since the forging of diplomatic ties in 1992, Jia noted.Trade between the two countries topped 150 billion U.S. dollars during January-September this year, up 36.7 percent year on year. A joint-venture and subsidiary of Beijing Automotive Industry Holdings and Hyundai Motor, Beijing Hyundai was established in 2002 and manufactures Hyundai-branded automobiles for the Chinese market.While China' s economy has been growing at a stable and relatively fast pace, the automobile industry, a representative pillar sector in China, has shown robust growth and is expected to produce more than 15 million automobiles this year, Jia said.Also, the Chinese government has been encouraging automobile manufacturers to boost their research capacity and production of clean-energy-powered automobiles, seeking higher requirements for Beijing Hyundai in its future development, he said.Facing the new conditions, Beijing city and ROK Hyundai Motor must cooperate closely to improve high-technology and management levels to grasp the opportunities created by the boom in the Chinese automobile sector, he said.Beijing Hyundai's third plant, located in Yangzhen Township in Shunyi District, will have an annual production capacity of 400,000 vehicles when completed in 2012. BEIJING, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- The China Banking Regulatory Commission (CBRC) announced Monday that it will guide the nation's banks to a scientific pace of lending this year as it stressed bank loans should better serve the real economy.The CBRC said in a statement on its website that it will also expand and improve financial services in the country's rural areas and encourage banks to support borrowing activities from small-sized companies.The CBRC said it will carry out more studies in stepping up support for the country's affordable housing program, which aims to build 10 million affordable housing units for low and middle income residents this year.The commission also said it will continue to implement the differentiated home loan policy adopted last year, under which bank loans for third home purchases are suspended and down payments for all first-time home buyers are at least 30 percent of the purchase price, while second home buyers will have to pay an even higher amount of down payments, at 50 percent.Further, the CBRC said it would tighten controls over lending to local government's financing vehicles in order to ward off risks.Government data showed new yuan-denominated lending in China reached 7.95 trillion yuan (about 1.2 trillion U.S. Dollars) last year, overshooting the government's full-year target of 7.5 trillion yuan.

BEIJING, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) - China on Friday called for a settlement to the territorial dispute between Israel and the Arab countries through negotiations.Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei made the remarks while commenting on an Israeli bill that had been passed by the Israeli Knesset (parliament) Monday. The bill demands a referendum should any Israeli government make territorial concessions in East Jerusalem to the Palestinians or in the Golan Heights to Syria.Since the aftermath of the 1967 war, Israeli law requires a two-thirds majority of consent by the Israeli public when handing over territories to Palestine and Syria.However, the law goes against the spirit of United Nations (UN) resolutions and cannot change the fact that East Jerusalem and the Golan Heights are occupied lands of the Arab countries, Hong said."China calls on Israel to follow the relevant UN resolutions as well as the established principles of international laws to properly settle the territorial dispute through negotiations for the realization of a comprehensive, and lasting peace in the Middle East," said Hong.
