An email sent to businesses and organizations across the country on Thursday appears to be a hoax, authorities from the New York Police Department said. According to NYPD's Twitter page, the email, which prompts victims to make a Bitcoin payment, is a scheme to either "cause disruption and/or obtain money."Police in New York said they have searched various places where the email has been sent, and no devices have been found. NYPD said they will continue to respond to calls for service if anyone receives a threat. Authorities in other states have conducted similar searches. AN DIEGO (KGTV) - Generations apart, a 9-year-old is hoping to give a San Diego WWII veteran the 100th birthday of a lifetime. An aspiring journalist and U.S. President, 9-year-old Arthur Brook has been spending much of his time in recent months interviewing WWII veterans to preserve their stories. "I was beginning to think how good it would be to save their stories while they're still here. There aren't that many of them," said Brook.Along with his dad and sister Sofia, Arthur visits the Veterans Home of California, Chula Vista, to conduct interviews. "Well, most of them have never been interviewed before, never in their whole lives!" said Arthur.Arthur posts his interviews on his YouTube channel, Kids Discovering.When Arthur learned one of the residents, Edwin Schwimmer, would be turning 100 in September, he wanted to do something special for him. Kim Sue Endicott and her tour guide, Jean-Paul Mirenge Remezo,were freed in a negotiated handover. Kidnappers demanded 0,000, but it's unknown how much was negotiated for the release. Ugandan security forces launched a search for Kim Endicott and the local driver after they were abducted in a wildlife park on Tuesday.
