SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A surfer was found unconscious, face down in the water near Pacific Beach early Wednesday.San Diego lifeguards were notified of the woman in her 30's just after 8 a.m. inside the surf zone at Tourmaline Surf Park.10News spoke to Jason Glover, a paddleboard surfer who set up a robot-camera on the beach to capture surf videos. One of the clips captured the audio of the exact moment bystanders found the woman unconscious.“Hey! Hey! Call 9-1-1,” they said. Fellow surfers immediately pulled her out of the water and started CPR. Lifeguards continued life-saving efforts once they arrived, according to San Diego Fire-Rescue spokeswoman Mónica Mu?oz.The woman began breathing again and was transported to Scripps Memorial Hospital, but her condition was not immediately known.“They immediately brought her in. But that’s what surfers do. Whenever there’s a crew out here, you know you’re going to be fine because everyone looks after each other,” Glover said. It's unclear what caused the woman to become unconscious. 1042

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Airbnb is now threatening swift punishment and even legal action against guests and hosts who throw or allow parties. The vacation rental giant says it is banning parties and capping occupancy to 16. The company cited COVID restrictions as part of its rationale."Some have chosen to take bar and club behavior to homes, sometimes rented through our platform," Airbnb said in a statement. "We think such conduct is incredibly irresponsible – we do not want that type of business, and anyone engaged in or allowing that behavior does not belong on our platform."In San Diego, home to at least 11,000 vacation rentals, both residents and hosts praised the move. Andrew Kaperonis owns a home in Mission Beach sandwiched between two vacation rentals. Things got so bad with the unit to the south that he took the owner to court, ultimately making the situation better with a required seven-day minimum stay. It still, however, is a vacation rental. "You get a little bit of anxiety because you just don't know who you are going to get," he said. "You're always kind of looking around and going, 'oh, who's checking in today?'"Kaperonis said Airbnb's party ban is a step in the right direction, but questioned how it would be enforceable. Airbnb says it maintains a 24-hour hotline and rapid response teams. People can also message the site. Hosts also told ABC-10News they backed the move. Blaine Smith, owner of 710 Vacation Rentals, which manages 180 listings largely in Mission Beach, said it's good Airbnb is holding people accountable.Smith says he vets reservations and will decline them if he senses there will be a problem, but not everyone does. "I know a lot of these neighbors, I'm not trying to upset any one of them, whereas if you're a single owner that does not live in the area, I think that's where a lot of the issues come from," he said. Cy Pilkington, who manages four vacation rentals in La Jolla and Pacific Beach, said he was glad Airbnb was taking the stance. He is an on-site manager for three of the units and does not allow parties. "We want people to be able to come and enjoy a piece of our life that they normally can't have, when they live inland or hotter communities or rural communities that want to come and enjoy the beach," he said. The city of San Diego has failed to implement any new regulations on vacation rentals. The City Council passed an ordinance instituting rules in 2018, but rescinded it after a referendum funded by Airbnb. 2496

The "Safe & Clean" initiative includes reduction in ticket sales and blocked seating for social distancing purposes, extra time between showings for thorough cleaning, hand sanitizing stations around the facility, and mask requirements for moviegoers and theater staff. The world's largest movie theater company reopened more than 100 theaters in August after being closed for five months due to the coronavirus pandemic.News of the openings comes as Christopher Nolan's newest movie "Tenet" makes its theatrical debut in the U.S. It's one of the first big movies to hit theaters since the pandemic struck. To see if an AMC theater in your area is open, click here.In addition to AMC theaters, Reading Cinema locations in San Diego area also reopening. The two locations -- La Mesa (5500 Grossmont Center Dr.) and San Diego (4665 Clairemont Dr.) -- opened their respective doors on Thursday. The theaters have their own health and safety protocols in place, including social distancing, 25 percent capacity, and extra cleaning between showings.Additionally, Reading will not allow cash, and anyone with cash will be asked to purchase a gift card at the box office."We're just really excited to be able to pull the trigger and open the doors,” said Reading Cinemas Director of Food and Beverage Ken Gillich. "We're really trying to minimize the amount of touch points that anybody needs to have, but hopefully once you get into the auditorium, you can sit down and get back to enjoying the movies."Thanks to the reopenings, Reading Cinemas in San Diego was able to rehire about 40 percent of their workforce.Gillich added, "It's the cheapest form of therapy you can get. It's one of the only places where for 10-15 bucks you can turn off your phone, you're expected to turn off your phone and disappear from the world for 2 hours, 2 1/2 hours. And we're just really, really, really pleased to be able to provide that experience, once again, for the community." 2916
