BEIJING, July 31 (Xinhua) -- President Xi Jinping has called for efforts to study the significance of China's resistance against Japanese invasion and its role in World War II.

Xi said China stands ready to link the Belt and Road initiative with Turkey's development strategy in pursuit of common prosperity. He also proposed the two sides implement a mid- and long-term plan for trade and economic cooperation between the two countries, which was signed after their talks at the Great Hall of the People.

Xi made the remarks during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who attended commemorations here to mark the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

The Belt and Road initiative, proposed in 2013, is a trade and infrastructure network that includes the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road to connect Asia, Europe and Africa. A 40 billion U.S. dollar Silk Road Fund designed to finance the initiative has been launched.
