Vice President Mike Pence visited Wisconsin on Tuesday to make a campaign push ahead of election day in November. The VP had a pair of appearances in the morning which focused on issues important to local republican voters like religious faith and personal security.In an interview with TMJ4 News, Pence discussed Coronavirus testing and the Black Lives Matter movement."Well look, I'm pro life. I think that all lives matter and that the lives of our African American community are precious in the sight of God," the Vice President said.? While the Black Lives Matter protests in Milwaukee and around the country have been largely peaceful and about systemic change, Vice President Pence raised concerns about the rioting and looting with some protests.?"I think that the leadership of the movement calling for defunding police - seeing the countless violence in the street. It's just not where the American people are - the American people know we can support law enforcement and our African American community. ?The decades of disparities run deep in Milwaukee for African Americans in areas of income and home ownership," he said.Pence points to President Trump's record with the lowest unemployment rate ever for African Americans before the pandemic, increased funding for Historic Black Colleges and Universities and more tax break investments in communities of color called Opportunity Zones. ?The vice president believes failed Democratic leadership in major cities helped Donald Trump win Wisconsin in 2016. ?"They heard him (President Trump) say to the African American community in this state: 'What do you have to lose?' At this point, I think we have done 27 million test across America," Pence responded.U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin thinks the Trump administration has not delivered enough testing supplies for hard hit places like nursing homes.The Wisconsin Democrat and potential V-P running mate for Joe Biden wants the president to use the Defense Production Act to increase testing supplies and improve access."We're facing lots of challenges as we struggle to reopen the economy," said Baldwin, and we will continue too as we open things like K--12 schools and higher education.Baldwin is also calling for work place protection rules and supplies. VALLEY CENTER, Calif. (KGTV) - A North San Diego County resident resorted to Wild West measures after he was the victim of a crime, creating "Wanted: Dead or Alive" posters to find a thief.The San Diego Sheriff’s Office says approximately ,800 worth of items ranging from power tools to a mountain bike were stolen from a home on Valley Center Road on February 16.SDSO was working the case when the homeowner told deputies he had hung posters with the suspect’s image bearing ‘wanted dead or alive’ and the station’s number around town.“We don’t encourage vigilantism,” said Sgt. Russell Ryan.Ryan says SDSO asked the man to remove the posters but the man claimed he was exercising his first amendment rights.SDSO’s Valley Center substation took to Twitter to clarify they were, in fact, looking for the suspect but there was not a death warrant for alleged thief.Deputies were able identify the suspect as 23-year-old Jose Martinez, thanks to the homeowner's surveillance video. Martinez was taken into custody on Wednesday.Martinez is currently being held at the Vista Detention Facility on several burglary-related charges and is believed to be related to other recent thefts, according to SDSO.Sgt. UNION, Ky. — A 17-year-old girl faked a school shooting threat at Ryle High School in Union, Kentucky because she didn't want to go to class on Wednesday, according to a news release from the Boone County Sheriff's Office. Classes are still on, but she'll get her wish. The girl was arrested Tuesday night and booked into the Campbell County Juvenile Detention Center. The threat, which deputies said she made herself but pretended to have received via Snapchat, was the fourth of its kind targeted at Ryle in just two days. Three other teenagers — two 15-year-olds and one 17-year-old — were arrested Monday for making "terroristic threats."The girl's mother called police Tuesday night, Sgt. Philip Ridgell wrote in the news release. She believed her daughter had just received a threat reading, "since nobody showed up to school today just sat till tomorrow, i'm going to drive past the cafeteria during 3rd lunch and just shoot non stop."In reality, Ridgell said, the girl had created it. Deputies who questioned her about the threat noted inconsistent responses and ultimately learned she had posted it to her own Snapchat story because she did not want to go to school.After confessing, she tried to flee on foot. Deputies caught her, arrested her and took her to the detention center."We will continue with classes tomorrow as normal," Boone County Schools wrote in an emailed statement. "We will continue to have additional staff and law enforcement on campus to help our staff and students feel safe." 1553

Bernie Sanders' son is running for Congress in New Hampshire.Levi Sanders, 48, said in a statement first reported by WMUR and since posted on his campaign website that he is entering the open-seat race to replace retiring Democratic Rep. Carol Shea-Porter."This is a unique opportunity to listen to the hard working men and women of New Hampshire about the issues that matter to them," he said.The New Hampshire 1st District is one of the nation's most competitive open-seat races in 2018's midterms.Unlike his father, who ran as an independent in Vermont, Sanders is running as a Democrat. He'll be the eighth Democratic candidate to enter the race.Sanders lives in Claremont, New Hampshire, which is outside the 1st District. Members of the US House must live in the state they are running in, but are not required to live in the district.Sanders said in the statement he's worked in Massachusetts as a legal services analyst for 17 years."For 15 years, New Hampshire has been my family's home," he said.Sanders' platform largely mirrors his father's. U.S. energy consumption plummeted to its lowest level in more than 30 years this spring as the nation’s economy largely shut down because of the coronavirus, federal officials reported Wednesday.The drop was driven by less demand for coal that is burned for electricity and oil that’s refined into gasoline and jet fuel, the U.S. Energy Information Administration said.The declines were in line with lower energy usage around the globe as the pandemic seized up economies.Those trends are turning around as commercial activity resumes but the impact has already been profound — including energy companies filing for bankruptcy protection and a forecasted dip in annual U.S. and global greenhouse gas emissions.Overall U.S. energy consumption dropped 14 % during April compared to a year earlier, the energy administration said. That’s the lowest monthly level since 1989 and the largest decrease ever recorded in data that’s been collected since 1973.The largest drop previously seen was in December 2001, after the Sept. 11 attacks shocked the economy and a mild winter depressed electricity demand.Natural gas bucked the trend with a 15 percent increase in use during the April lockdown. More people at home meant more demand for natural gas as a heating fuel, while relatively few homes are heated with coal or oil, said Brett Marohl, who helped produce the energy administration findings.Petroleum consumption fell to 14.7 million barrels a day in April, down almost a third compared to the same period in 2019. Demand already has rebounded some after stay-at-home orders expired and large sectors of the economy started moving again.Led by people resuming some of their old driving habits, particularly in cities, petroleum consumption in June was back up to 17.6 million barrels a day, according to the American Petroleum Institute. But new drilling activity continued to be weak, declining in June for the seventh month in a row to 11 million barrels daily as stockpiles of oil and petroleum products remained near record levels.The spring drop in oil demand coincided with a market collapse triggered by a price dispute between Russia and Saudi Arabia.“While we are not out of the woods yet, we do appear to be headed in the right direction,” said Dean Foreman, the industry group’s chief economist.Coal companies are expected to have an even tougher time recovering from the pandemic, which hit as the coal sector remained on a fairly steady downward spiral since 2007 despite President Donald Trump’s attempts to prop it up.Coal consumption fell 27 percent in April compared to the same period in 2019, to 27 million tons.
