OCEANSIDE (KGTV) -- It's a 3,100-mile bike ride that starts from the Oceanside Pier Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. Buzz Ponce, 69, will be riding his bike coast to coast from Oceanside to St. Augustine, Florida.  He is doing it to raise money for the Warrior's Heart Foundation. The foundation helps active military members, veterans and first responders dealing PTSD, alcohol abuse and drug addiction. Buzz says he started planning the bike ride two years ago. At first, he says it was all about seeing if he could do it, but then realized it would be better if he could use it to help others. "It really flashed on me that I should do something other than just about me. And that’s when I came across the idea of trying to raise money for a cause," Ponce said. The organization has a treatment center in San Antonio.  Ponce says his goal is to raise ,000 to hopefully start a scholarship for people that need to travel to the center.People can donate Buzz's cause here. If all goes as scheduled, Buzz will be in St. Augustine on July 1.  1091

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- Police have identified the man accused of firing a gun at an Oklahoma City restaurant on Thursday evenign. Police say Alexander Tilghman, 28-years-old of Oklahoma City, opened fire Thursday at 6:30 p.m. local time at Louie's restaurant on Lake Hefner. In an update sent around 9:30 a.m. police say officers found Tilghman dead outside the restaurant. Police say he was shot by two citizens.Witnesses say the men were yelling at the suspect to put his gun down, but he had large headphones on and was pacing near the restaurant. Witnesses say the suspect raised his gun at the men, and that's when the armed citizen shot Tilghman.Police say three people were shot: A 39-year-old woman and two female juveniles. All three are reportedly in good condition.A fourth person was injured, according to police, after falling and breaking his arm after the shooter started firing his gun.Oklahoma City police are holding a press conference at 11:30 a.m. local time.  1024

On Monday, the White House would not rule out suspending habeas corpus ahead of the approach of a migrant caravan to the US border.Suspending habeas corpus is seen as a move that could allow thousands of migrants participating in the caravan from Central America to the US border to be detained indefinitely without a hearing. While the suspension of habeas corpus is rare, it is not unprecedented.  422

OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) - Oceanside could be getting a new active sports complex, complete with a man-made wave pool, perfect for surfing competitions, according to Mayor Peter Weiss. The idea is in it's beginning stages, no formal paperwork has been submitted to the city clerk. 10News spoke with her Wednesday and she said the developer, Zephyer Partners, has been talking with council members.Neighbors have already been hearing construction equipment hacking away at the remains of the drive-in that operated before the swap meet took over."When I was driving by and I saw you standing here I thought I need to find out because she probably knows more than I do," Neighbor Liz Lewellen said.She said the neighborhood has been wondering what could happen to the lot. Mayor Weiss told 10News the developer gave him this pitch, "n active sports complex, there would be a BMX track, a climbing wall, things like that, it would also have a hotel and then sports oriented retail." He also described a wave pool that mimics the Kelly Slater Surf Ranch in Fresno. The facility is state-of-the-art and perfect for competitions.The idea sparking interest in the community. Lewellen was shocked and excited when she heard."I love the idea that it's commercial coming in because this area desperately needs more restaurants more things," Lewellen said. "So that's really exciting, I know that we have the skate park up the street and that's been a god send for the kids and the active people in the neighborhood."Thursday Zephyr Partners will host a community workshop at Saint Mary Star of the Sea School from 6-8 p.m."It's something unique, I think I'd like to actually see the plans what they're proposing," Weiss said.When asked if Lewellen would try out the wave pool, "I've always wanted to learn how to surf," she said laughing, "so maybe, we'll see, if it's the perfect wave, maybe someone can train me how to perfectly get up on the board."Lewellen had one concern though, wondering how traffic would affect her drive to and from home.Zephyr Partners did not respond to 10News's request for comment. OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) -- Oceanside Police are searching for a suspect following an alleged attempted abduction in Oceanside Wednesday morning. According to police, a 5th grade female student at Laurel Elementary School was walking down San Diego Street near Lemon Street around 8:30 a.m. when she noticed a man standing near a dark SUV. As she walked closer, the young girl says the man opened the passenger side door and grabbed her by the arm. The girl reportedly pulled away, kicking the suspect before running to school. Police described the man as white, bald and heavy set in his 30s with a black beard. He was seen wearing a black jacket, light blue shirt and black pants.
