ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) — The mayor of New York’s third largest city has suspended a group of police officers involved in the suffocation death of a Black man last March. Daniel Prude died March 30 when his family took him off life support, seven days after officers who encountered him running naked through the street put a hood over his head to stop him from spitting, then held him down for about two minutes until he stopped breathing.Wednesday, Prude’s family held a news conference and released police body camera video obtained through a public records request that captured his fatal interaction with the officers.Prude had been taken to a Rochester hospital for a mental health evaluation about eight hours before the encounter that led to his death. He was released back into the care of his family and then abruptly ran into the street and took off his clothes.A medical examiner concluded that Prude’s death was a homicide caused by “complications of asphyxia in the setting of physical restraint.” The report lists excited delirium and acute intoxication by phencyclidine, or PCP, as contributing factors.New York Attorney General Letitia James’ office took over the investigation of the death in April. (AP) — A Southern California man has been arrested on suspicion of making more than 10,000 harassing phone calls to government offices, including some that included death threats against those answering the phone, federal prosecutors said.Robert Stahlnecker, 48, was arrested at his home in the Mojave Desert town of Twentynine Palms on Friday and held in federal custody after making an initial court appearance, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.He was charged with threatening federal officers and employees, making interstate communications with the threat to injure a person and anonymous telecommunications harassment.There his no listing for his home phone number and it couldn’t immediately be determined if he has an attorney. His arraignment was scheduled for Dec. 26.According to a 20-page complaint filed in federal court, the calls included three he made within five minutes on Aug. 28 to a congresswoman’s office in San Mateo. Prosecutors said he threatened to come to the office and kill the staffer who answered the phone.On Sept. 28, he allegedly made eight calls in seven minutes to the Washington office of a U.S. senator from Ohio. During the calls prosecutors said he used vulgar language in berating and threatening to kill an intern who answered the phone.Neither member of Congress was identified.In all, prosecutors said, Stahlnecker has made more than 10,000 calls to government agencies and elected officials since January.Prosecutors say U.S. Capitol Police have been investigating harassing and threatening calls allegedly made by Stahlnecker for at least 10 years. RICHMOND, Indiana — An emergency call credited with foiling the shooting at a Richmond middle school on Thursday was made by the teenage suspect's mother, according to multiple sources with knowledge of the investigation.The call was made at 8:11 a.m. local time by the mother, according to information obtained from Wayne County's Emergency Communications Division.Sources tell WRTV television station in Indianapolis the mother called after the teenage boy had taken another family member hostage and forced them to drive to Dennis Intermediate School, just a little more than a mile from their home.Once the boy was at the school, he entered the building through a side door and eventually exchanged gunfire with responding officers, before turning the gun on himself, according to the sources.WRTV did request a recording of the call made to Wayne County's Emergency Communications Division, but the call is not being released due to the investigation.The advance call gave the school valuable minutes to lock down the middle school and allow police to quickly respond to the school, sources said. 1119

Roger Stone associate Jerome Corsi said Monday he expects to be indicted by special counsel Robert Mueller for "giving false information to the special counsel or to one of the other grand jury."Corsi made the comment during his streaming show on YouTube."And now I fully anticipate that the next few days, I will be indicted by Mueller for some form or other of giving false information to the special counsel or to one of the other grand jury or however they want to do the indictment. But I'm going to be criminally charged," Corsi said Monday.Corsi's lawyer declined to comment.Corsi could face any number of charges -- spanning from perjury to making false claims to obstruction of justice. The potential charges are related to false statements he made about his relationship with WikiLeaks and Stone.Corsi has been involved in Mueller's investigation for roughly two months and had already been subpoenaed for documents and testimony before the grand jury, and he complied with both.Corsi's role in the investigation largely revolves around the possibility that he was an intermediary between Stone and WikiLeaks.During the 2016 campaign, Stone publicly bragged about having "backchannel communications" with WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, and on several occasions appeared to predict the WikiLeaks releases that roiled the race in the final stretch of the campaign. But in the two years since Trump's victory, Stone has walked back those claims and said his "backchannel" was merely New York radio host Randy Credico sharing information about his interviews with Assange.
