Rescue workers say she was displaying signs of pain in her rear legs and was refusing to move. They administered some pain relief, adjusted their stretcher to be more dog-friendly and packed a few treats to help settle her down. LONDON (AP) — Some public health experts are criticizing the U.S. for securing a large supply of the only drug licensed so far to treat COVID-19. The U.S. government announced this week that it had an agreement with Gilead Sciences to make the bulk of their production of remdesivir available to Americans for the next three months. A senior lecturer at the University of Sussex called the U.S. agreement “disappointing news." Until now, the California-based Gilead had donated the drug. That ended Tuesday and Gilead has set the price for new shipments. Gilead is allowing generic makers to supply the drug to poor or middle-income countries at much lower prices. 672

Residents in parts of Santa Barbara, Ventura and San Luis Obispo counties could hear a series of sonic booms following liftoff of the Falcon 9 rocket. Farther south in Los Angeles County, residents might have caught a glimpse of the rocket's smoky trail as it powered the satellite into orbit, then reversed course and returned to Vandenberg for recovery and use in future missions.The launch was scheduled for 9:17 a.m., and SpaceX tweeted a video showing the successful liftoff at 9:19 a.m.At 9:28 a.m., the company tweeted that ``Falcon 9's first stage has landed on Landing Zone 4,'' and deployment of Sentinel-6 Michael Freilich was confirmed at 10:18 a.m.The rocket carries NASA's Sentinel-6 Michael Freilich satellite, which will join a nearly 30-year project to measure global sea-surface height, while also providing atmospheric data that officials say will improve weather forecasts, climate modeling and hurricane tracking. LOS ANGELES — Prosecutors say two men and two teens have been charged in the death of rising rapper Pop Smoke, who was killed during a Los Angeles home-invasion robbery in February. Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey said in a statement Monday that Corey Walker and Keandre Rodgers were charged with murder that occurred during the commission of a robbery and burglary. The two male teens were also charged with murder and robbery in juvenile court. Their names were not released.The 20-year-old New York rapper, whose legal name is Bashar Barakah Jackson, was killed Feb. 19 at a home in the Hollywood Hills.
