CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - Two people were seriously injured and a third person is dead after a shooting in a Chula Vista Costco parking lot Monday afternoon, according to police. The incident happened about 12:30 p.m. near the Costco at 1100 Broadway at Naples St. Other nearby stores include Walmart and Petco. Chula Vista police said a woman and her new boyfriend were putting away groceries in their car in the parking lot when the suspect approached from behind, shot both victims several times before turning the gun on himself. “I was about to pull in to the parking lot, a parking space; I thought they were fighting or something," said Carlos, a witness who did not provide his last name.Chris Anthes, who witnessed the incident unfold, told 10News, “The woman was up, like she was holding her chest. I thought maybe she was having a heart attack or something like that.” Anthes’ sister-in-law, Angela Shelton, added, “This other guy comes up and grabs ahold of her. Now that I know what was going on, he was trying to shield her.”Responding officers found the three victims suffering gunshot wounds, according to Lt. Dan Peak of the Chula Vista Police Department. Police say they recovered a handgun at the scene. According to San Diego Police, the incident happened near Spectrum Center Boulevard and Promenade Park Terrace just after 2 p.m. Police say the man was moving his Dodge pickup truck at the Esplanade at Spectrum Center Apartments being guided by his son. According to a new survey from Boy Scouts of America, bullying took the top spot as the number one concern for Generation Z. “Verbal bullying and cyberbullying are our big problems,” said 14-year-old Katrina Gusman. Gusman has been focusing her time on improving her community and the lives of her peers. “We volunteered for a few hours; it was a really fun experience,” said Gusman. A recent survey by Boy Scouts of America shows 32 percent of kids from 6 to 17 years old believe bullying is the biggest issue in our country. 30 percent of kids say they want to combat bullying globally. In California, the homeless crisis is also taking a toll on Generation Z. According to the survey, 29 percent of kids in California believe homelessness is the biggest issue in our state. “There are people who might be sleeping in other people's houses or with their grandparents because their parents can't find jobs,” said Gusman. It may be due to the prevalent homelessness in California. The White House Council of Economic Advisers found 47 percent of all unsheltered homeless people nationwide live in California. Gusman believes giving back is the first step. (AP) — Amazon's self-driving robots will be roaming the streets of another neighborhood.The online shopping giant said Tuesday that the six-wheeled robots, about the size of a smaller cooler, will begin delivering packages to customers in Irvine, California. It comes after Amazon began testing them in a suburb of Seattle at the beginning of the year.Amazon said the robots, which are light blue and have the Amazon smile logo stamped on its sides, are able to avoid crashing into trash cans or pedestrians.
