(KGTV) - Firefighters responded to flames burning roughly 31 cars in National City Tuesday.The fire was reported about 12:45 p.m. at 3131 Hoover Ave., northeast of Interstate 5 and SR-54. Flames were burning vehicles on a private lot, the California Highway Patrol reported. MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A Minnesota judge has declined defense requests to move the trial of four Minneapolis police officers charged in George Floyd’s death, and also ruled that all four would be tried in a single proceeding.Hennepin County Judge Peter Cahill ruled Thursday after defense attorneys argued that pretrial publicity had made it impossible for the four men to get a fair trial.They had also cited a Sept. 11 hearing in which the men and their attorneys were confronted by angry protesters outside the courthouse.Moving the trial away from Minneapolis to less diverse areas of the state likely would have affected the makeup of the jury.The officers being charged are Derek Chauvin, J. Alexander Kueng, Thomas Lane and Tou Thao. Chauvin is charged with second-degree murder of Floyd, a black man who died after being restrained by him and the other Minneapolis police officers on May 25. NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The man accused of killing four people and injuring others at a Waffle House in Antioch, Tennessee is not competent to stand trial, a judge ruled. Medical experts previously deemed Travis Reinking to be mentally unstable and unfit to stand trial. He appeared in court Wednesday where a judge ordered him to be placed in a mental health facility until he is competent to stand trial. He's expected to be moved this afternoon. Prosecutor Roger Moore said this hearing was to determine Reinking’s current state of mind – not his mental state during the shooting. Psychologist Rena Isen spoke with Reinking prior to the hearing and testified that he's not competent to stand trial, saying he's shown signs of schizophrenia.  782

MORENO VALLEY, Calif. (KGTV) - Cal Fire and Riverside County Fire crews responded Friday to a wildfire threatening utility infrastructure in Moreno Valley. The first firefighters to reach the scene along Gilman Springs Road reported four spot fires approximately one mile apart and one acre each, Cal Fire tweeted. Within an hour, the so-called Jerry Fire spread to 500 acres with a rapid rate of spread and no containment.Multiple structures were threatened, said officials. Aerial video from the scene showed at least one structure engulfed in flames. Approximately 15 homes on Gilman Springs Road between Highway 60 and Jack Rabbit Trail were evacuated.There was no immediate word on the cause of the fire.
