TAMPA, Fla. — An employee at a Chinese Restaurant in Tampa has been arrested after deputies say he stabbed three other employee's with a butcher knife while at work on Monday.According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, Xiaofu Feng, 44 was working in the kitchen of the Peking Chinese Restaurant alongside chef Qing Zheng on Monday afternoon. Around 2:35 p.m., deputies say that Feng became upset and accused Qing of taking his cell phone. That's when deputies say he grabbed a 12-inch butcher knife and cut Qing several times across the left side of his neck, causing deep lacerations, but narrowly missing the artery. The victim attempted to warn others nearby who were working in another area of the kitchen, according to an arrest report. Feng then attacked a second employee, Qi Zheng, with the butcher knife and caused multiple lacerations to the left side of her neck, shoulder, and lower arm.Shi Zheng, the store owner and Qi Zheng's father, walked in and saw what was happening from the rear of the store. Deputies say he attempted to protect his daughter and others from further harm. Feng allegedly attacked Shi with the butcher knife and cut him across the right side of his face. Shi continued his efforts to stop Feng, who had now armed himself with a second knife. Despite his injuries, he was able to disarm Feng of the second knife and hold him until deputies arrived.Deputies say that all three victims were transported to Tampa General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Feng was arrested and charged with three counts of attempted 2nd-degree murder.  1722

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Governor Ron DeSantis has vetoed a bill that would have raised the minimum smoking age to 21 in Florida.Earlier in the year, the state was poised to raise the minimum age for smoking and vaping to 21. But on Tuesday, in a letter sent to the Department of State Secretary, Gov. DeSantis explained that banning vaping would be "more dangerous" for hundreds of thousands of Floridians who rely on the reduced-risk alternatives to cigarettes.Gov. DeSantis said in the letter that the bill -- Senate Bill 810 -- would lead more people to go back to smoking cigarettes and would "drive others to the hazardous black market."While Gov. DeSantis says it's "an important goal" to get younger Floridians to cut down on vaping, he said in the letter that the goal will not be achieved with the passage of the bill.Prior to being vetoed by the governor, Senate Bill 810 would have also banned sales of flavored vaping products.Below is Gov. DeSantis' letter to the state:Below is the now-vetoed Senate Bill 810:This article was written by KJ Hiramoto for WFTS. 1078

The birthday party for a 5-year-old Davenport, Iowa boy turned into one he’ll never forget when several officers from the Davenport Police Department accepted his invitation to attend.Jackie Martin took to Facebook to share the story of her son, Brayden, and his love for police officers. According to Martin, he loves everything about them, so it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise when Brayden decided he wanted to have a police officer-themed birthday party this year.Brayden personally delivered invitations to the police station in hopes of getting to see a squad car.But what he got in return was so much more.Over the course of the day, seven different officers made their way to Brayden’s party. Detective Donnie Pridemore even brought a pin-on badge with him and Brayden was pinned an official junior officer of the Davenport Police Department.“They went above and beyond to make my son feel like part of the team and really made today so special and allowed us the opportunity to continue to show Brayden the importance of respecting the law and those who uphold it,” said Martin, “they may not wear capes but today, they were definitely the heroes.”Check out the full post from Jackie: 1206

The AARP launched new ads, demanding Congress take action to help older Americans to find affordable medication. It’s a problem David Mitchell is experiencing. He is fighting blood cancer, and treatment does not come cheap.“The drugs I use right now that are keeping me alive, keeping the cancer at bay, cost 0,000 a year,” he says. “That’s retail price.”Mitchell pays for expensive, supplemental insurance so he can afford his medicine, but the sticker shock for cancer medication became an awakening.“The experience as a cancer patient brought me face-to-face with a fundamental truth, and that is drugs don’t work if people can’t afford them,” Mitchell says. “And all over the country, people are struggling with high-drug costs. They’re cutting pills in half, they’re skipping doses, they go into debt, they declare bankruptcy.”David started an organization called Patients for Affordable Drugs. He’s on a mission to lower prescription prices. This week, he’s getting help from one of the largest nonprofits in the country.AARP launched a new campaign to pressure Congress not to make any changes to a bill they passed earlier this year that lowered drug costs for seniors.“AARP is saying absolutely not. This is wrong. We’re going to protect that deal that reduced costs for Medicare beneficiaries, and we’re not gonna give Pharma a billion bailout,” Mitchell says.Healthcare was a top issue during the midterm elections, and Mitchell hopes the new ads will put pressure on the new Congress to do more.“In the midterm elections, politicians ran on a promise to lower drug prices, and we believe that voters can Congress a mandate to do it,” Mitchell says. 1678

TAMPA, Fla. — Nearly 90 friends in the Tampa, Fla., area are betting big on their Mega Millions chances Tuesday. The group pooled together their money to purchase 11,000 tickets from a Ybor City neighborhood market, according to The Tampa Bay Times. And it's not the first time the group has gone in together for the prize either. The group has already reportedly spent ,000 on Mega Millions tickets, and rolled over winnings of ,224, according to the paper.Ryan McGuinness, who purchased the tickets, told the Times, "Everybody is back in."The group is hoping those past winnings pay off with Tuesday's drawing for the .6 billion jackpot. With a lump sum option of 5 million, divide that by 90 and each is walking away with at least million — before taxes. Not a bad chunk of change if you're willing to wait for all those tickets to be printed. If no one wins the Mega Millions jackpot yet again Tuesday, that pot could grow to an estimated  billion for Friday's drawing. 1015
