(KGTV) - The Los Angeles Chargers made a list of the most in-demand team for National Football League tickets, a StubHub report showed Thursday. The team ranked at number 9 for 2019 season ticket sales. This is the first year the Chargers have made the top 10, according to StubHub. Other rankings: 1. Dallas Cowboys 2. Green Bay Packers 3. Chicago Bears 4. New England Patriots 5. Philadelphia Eagles 6. Cleveland Browns 7. Minnesota Vikings 8. Pittsburgh Steelers 9. Los Angeles Chargers 10. San Francisco 49ersChargers ticket sales are up 220 percent, even with the smallest venue in the league, StubHub analysts said. The team’s Oct. 13 game against the Steelers was the eighth most in-demand game for fall. “Historic franchises are continuing to draw fans in 2019,” Akshay Khanna, GM of NFL at StubHub. “The Cowboys, Packers, Bears and Patriots dominate StubHub’s Top 10 in-demand teams and each are up at least 20% in ticket sales from 2018. It really shows that loyal fan bases, histories of winning seasons and continued buzz throughout the offseason can continue to fuel high demand.” Quarterbacks Tom Brady, Drew Brees, and Aaron Rodgers held honors as the most popular players, based on eBay merchandise sales from July 2018 through July 2019. “Tom Brady continues to resonate most with eBay shoppers following his 2019 Superbowl win, according to fan gear sales on our marketplace,” said Sam Bright, Vice President of Merchandising at eBay. “We are, however, seeing increases in excitement for other players compared to our top 10 rankings of 2018. Odell Beckham, Jr., who ranked number 10 last year, is now the number five trending player following his move to the Cleveland Browns, and newcomers to the list include Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz, Rams running back Todd Gurley and Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson – all fantasy football favorites.” Not only is the NFL popular in the U.S., ticket sales from international buyers rose 19 percent during the 2018 season. Canada, Mexico, Australia, the United Kingdom and Germany were the top buyers. 2076
(KGTV) - TripAdvisor confirmed this month its willingness to publish travel reviews which include reports of crimes such as rape, robbery, theft or assault.A news release referenced a USA Today network article regarding a woman's online report that she had been sexually assaulted at the Iberostar Paraiso hotel near Playa del Carmen, Mexico. The article indicated the woman's review was removed from the TripAdvisor website.TripAdvisor said the woman's forum post was removed seven years ago when the company had a policy requiring content to use family-friendly language. Site officials said the policy changed to allow more descriptive reviews, including crime.“We believe any first-hand experience should be posted to our site as a means to communicate to other consumers looking for information on where they should travel,” TripAdvisor posted on its site.TripAdvisor said it is creating a badge notification to apply to businesses to alert consumers of health and safety or discrimination issues at that business reported on within the media or other credible sources of information. 1123

(KGTV) -- Reopening guidance could be coming soon for California’s theme parks, which have been shut down since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic in March.A spokesperson for Gov. Newsom and the state’s Department of Public Health said guidelines for reopening theme parks, concerts, sporting events, and other mass gatherings could be issued this week. Some expect an announcement to be made as soon as Friday.Earlier this week, Disney announced 28,000 employees would be laid off at Disneyland and Disney World parks. Company officials placed part of the blame on Newsom for failing to issue reopening guidelines for theme parks sooner. When asked if he was giving in to pressure from Disney and other theme parks to reopen prematurely, Newsom said, “We are not putting the health and safety of people visiting the state or recreating the state at the parks at risk.”Michelle Steel, chairwoman of the Orange County Board of Supervisors, criticized the state for “dragging its feet” on issuing reopening guidelines for theme parks, specifically Disneyland in Anaheim and Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park.“We need these parks to reopen not for our children and tourists but our businesses and communities that rely on them,” Steel said. “I am disappointed at the lack of progress California has made in this and every other area while other governments have made safe reopenings of their theme parks. California continues to delay and this has resulted in the loss of 28,000 jobs … All of this could have been avoided.”The California Attractions and Parks Association said they have seen a draft of the state reopening guidelines, but they are urging Newsom to make some changes.Downtown Disney and Universal CityWalk have reopened outside their respective theme parks with modifications.SeaWorld San Diego reopened in August on a limited basis, requiring reservations for visitors and limited access to exhibits. All of the park's coasters and rides are currently closed and some animal experiences are limited. The San Diego Zoo and Safari Park have also reopened in San Diego with limited offerings and modifications.City News Service contributed to this report 2172

A 17-year-old has been charged with manslaughter in the shooting death of a teenage girl at an Alabama high school on Wednesday, the district attorney's office announced.Michael Jerome Barber is charged as an adult in the death of 17-year-old Courtlin Arrington, Jefferson County District Attorney Mike Anderton said in a news release Friday. Barber also faces a charge of "being a certain person forbidden to possess a pistol" for having the firearm on school grounds. It was not immediately clear on Friday afternoon if Barber was represented by an attorney.Arrington was an aspiring nurse and a senior attending Huffman High School in Birmingham when two gunshots rang out around dismissal time on Wednesday afternoon, killing her and injuring another 17-year-old male student, the district attorney's statement said.Investigators with the Birmingham Police Department spoke with "many of the students in the school, in the classroom where the shooting took place and collected evidence from the scene," the release said. "Based on the evidence as presented to us, warrants were issued for the person responsible for this horrific tragedy.""Our hearts go out to the family of Ms. Arrington, all of her friends, and those whose lives would have been changed through her nursing dreams had this event not occurred," the statement said. "This is a parent's worst nightmare."Birmingham police Chief Orlando Wilson said earlier this week that police considered the shooting accidental, though he did not elaborate. The school was placed on a brief lockdown when the shots were fired on Wednesday afternoon, and police responded to the scene. The school has metal detectors, and school resource officers were on site at the time of the shooting, according to Birmingham City Schools Superintendent Lisa Herring.Wednesday's school shooting in Birmingham was the 14th in the US in 2018.The-CNN-Wire? & ? 2018 Cable News Network, Inc., a Time Warner Company.
