It’s a 1974 single family home in San Carlos. The before and after photos are striking. Same with the bathrooms. Zuniga says the key is never cutting corners in the remodel. If you want to flip instead of flop, the investor must impress the buyer. And if you’re going to flip, that’s the other key. The house must move quickly. “We’re in the market of the moment, and we priced to sell,” says Lisa Becker. She’s also Zuniga’s agent and helps him find investment properties in San Diego. Together they only buy single-family homes in the mid-level range to reach a much larger pool of potential buyers. Flipping or not, time is of the essence for the seller. In November when Zuniga bought the house, Becker figured after renovations it could sell for 0,000. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The City of San Diego approved a -million contract for a feasibility study and designs for a multi-purpose training facility for first responders.The contract was approved Wednesday by the Active Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. Councilman Chris Cate said he is very excited about the opportunity, "the goal in this endeavor is to have a central location for both our firefighters and our police officers to have a viable long term solution for their training facility."Currently San Diego Police and Fire train at a facility just north of Terminal 2, at Lindbergh Field.Along with asbestos problems, the entire facility will come down to make way for the Pure Water San Diego Project, that will turn wastewater into drinking water."We have to be in construction before that because all of those guys have to be out of there," Cate said the deadline is 2027. He hopes by that time a permanent facility will be open for the first responders.Some of the items on the wish list, "classrooms, virtual simulations and testing/tactical obstacle courses, life-size training buildings, home simulations simulating burn scenarios, and many other necessary components required for a safe city."Cate said another important part of the process is weighing the opinions of neighbors, both in households, and businesses. One woman who works nearby said she's worried how much traffic a facility like that could bring.Cate is most concerned about police, fire and SWAT personnel, "it's incumbent upon us as policy makers to make sure that they have all the tools that they need to do their jobs very well for the public."The study is set to be completed by Summer 2020. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The family of a missing Arizona grandmother believes that she may be heading to San Diego.On Monday, ABC10 News spoke to Aaron Richardson about his grandmother, Alice Fults, who was last seen on Friday morning in Chandler, Arizona. "You'd never think this would happen to you and for it to happen and [to] somebody you know totally tears you apart," he told ABC10 News.On Monday afternoon, Chandler Police confirmed that the 58-year-old stroke survivor and dementia patient got on a Greyhound bus on Friday morning that was bound for Los Angeles.Her family says that she could be trying to get to San Diego which is where she grew up and where her sister still lives. "She's from Lakeside so she always talked about Lakeside, California and how she wanted to go back to Lakeside," said Richardson.Fults has hearts with names tattooed on her legs and horseshoes tattooed on her arms. She has a drooping eyelid from her stroke and needs her seizure medication. Her family told ABC10 News that she left with her granddaughter's ID but not her own ID. She doesn't have a cell phone. Family added that she has a history of wandering off but never for more than a few hours."If you see this, Alice...I love you, grandma. Get some help, okay? Let us know you're okay," Richardson added.Chandler Police have issued a silver alert and are working on notifying law enforcement in Southern California about her disappearance. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The City of San Diego is close to completing a project that will protect a popular Ocean Beach walking path from erosion.People who live along Orchard Avenue say the pathway that goes along the coast has been falling apart in the past few years, as tidal surges wear away the concrete."It was falling apart. The sidewalk's coming up, you could have tripped," says Tony Nieves, who lives on the corner nearby. "It's nice to see something done about it."Over the winter, the City started construction on a 3,000 project to rebuild the walkway and add break rocks and rip rap to protect it. It's part of a bigger plan to revitalize staircases and walkways along the coast to improve beach access, which the city started working on in 2008.Rainy, windy weather delayed the Orchard Avenue part of the project, which was supposed to be completed by the start of spring.This past week, the city installed large, man-made rocks to the coast to break up waves. They also added green metal cages around them, leading people to fear they'll get so big they may block views."I come down here most nights that I'm not working, just to catch the sunset," says Brittany Hagedorn. "Living a block away makes it easy."In a statement, the City told 10News the boulders will get another layer of concrete above the cages and they hope to have the project completed before Memorial Day Weekend.In the meantime, people who live nearby will have to wait to use the path again.The full statement from the City of San Diego is below:"The man made boulders being constructed are part of the project to reconstruct the beach access walkway at Orchard Ave. The boulders are intended to protect the newly-installed sidewalk, because this section of sidewalk has previously been seriously damaged by tidal surges. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The fate of a local little league is up in the air after a string of costly break-ins dating back six months.At the Sunshine Little League fields off Federal Boulevard, it's not all sunshine and baseball joy."It's unfair, and I just don't like it," said Isaac Lopez, 11, who plays in the league.Two different break-ins were discovered over the weekend. Locks were broken and doors were pried open."It's upsetting. These kids don't deserve this," said league president John-Mario Pujol.The thief cleaned out the snack bar. Stolen from storage sheds: umpire gear and all of the equipment for the kids in the older division, including bats, helmets, gloves, and catcher's gear sets."It's just so petty. Kids are one thing that should be hands off. Stay away from messing with the youth," said Pujol.The break-ins are the latest in a series dating back six months, with more than six in all. In those cases, more equipment and food disappeared. In other incidents, homeless individuals have been found sleeping in the sheds. The total loss from theft and damage is nearly ,000. Pujol says for a low-income community, the loss is painful."We're hurting, in a tough position," said Pujol.The position is made tougher because of COVID-19. Fundraisers have been canceled. There are practices, but no games means no revenues."As of now, we don't have the opportunity to start our league back up. We get to see friends, and it's good to know that something hasn't changed ...
