(KGTV) - Surveillance video captured intruders surprised by an alarm during a burglary in Spring Valley Wednesday night.The break-in unfolded in Eva Bradley's home off Paradise Valley Road while she was at work. "I'm sad, upset and angry." said Bradley.Just before 11 p.m., a guest bedroom window was forced open. A surveillance camera was rolling in the bedroom of Bradley's 8-year-old son, who was not home. "Scary, scary. Just glad we weren't home. Such as violation," said Bradley.In the video, a person is seen shining a flashlight in the dark. He leaves and another intruder, wearing a hoodie, enter the room and opens a drawer. Moments later, the camera is struck and falls over. Soon after in the living room, the burglar with the flashlight - now toting a bag - is sneaking through the room before he triggers the motion sensor and the alarm. He and another figure then run out of the room.The break-in was cut short, but the thieves made off with iPads and jewelry, including a gold and diamond-shaped ruby ring which Bradley's grandmother wore every day before she died."I didn't get a chance to say goodbye before she passed away ... It's the only physical thing I have to remember her by," said Bradley. Bradley is likely not the only victim. A short time later, a person resembling the thief with the hoodie was recorded in the same area, ringing a doorbell and likely looking for another target. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell was confronted at a restaurant in Kentucky on Friday, according to CNN affiliate WLKY.According to WLKY, McConnell, a Republican representing Kentucky, was dining at Havana Rumba in Louisville, Kentucky, with his wife, Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, when a group of men approached the couple."Why don't you get out of here? SOLANA BEACH, Calif. (KGTV) - Solana Beach is one of San Diego County's most expensive places to live, but it has no affordable housing.Now, the City Council may pursue turning a part of the City Hall parking lot into a 19-unit mixed-use affordable housing complex. The council could vote Wednesday to issue a request for proposals for development of the site, with the hopes of selecting a company to build it by September. City Hall, by the way, is across the street from steps that lead to its famous beaches. "It'd be like winning the lottery," said Christian McDonough, one of the hundreds of people who work in Solana Beach's tourist-facing businesses, but can't afford to live there. "If you're in the service industry, you're most likely not living in Solana Beach."This would be the city's second attempt to add affordable housing. In 2014, the council approved a 10-unit complex called The Pearl, down the block from City Hall. It is still awaiting financing after surviving a legal challenge, developer Ginger Hitzke said.Richard Earle, who rented a blufftop condo for more than a month, said he supports the idea of affordable housing, but said it wouldn't solve the larger problem."It's going to turn into a gong show for 5,000 applicants and we're going to say, here's the lucky 20," Earle said. Zillow reports that the average rent in Solana Beach is ,837 a month, up 4.7 percent from a year ago.    1459

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Running a 5K can be challenging as it is, but imagine doing it while living with cerebral palsy. That’s what one 11-year-old is trying to accomplish.Fred Ginman may not have the legs of an athlete, but he certainly has the heart."That’s the message I think Fred has to everyone, 'don’t stop even though we are under coronavirus times,'" said mother Isabella Amaral.Fred is on day three of a 10-day 5K. The goal is 10 laps a day, or 500 meters, around the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Tampa Bay courtyard."The physical therapy we do here it's very modern, very sophisticated, and it's giving Fred hope," said Amaral.Fred and his mom are from Brazil. They have spent more than 600 nights at the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Tampa Bay since 2012, as Fred receives treatment for cerebral palsy. The goal is to one day walk on his own."That's our dream, that's our goal, that's what we envision every night, we envision walking freely on the beach," said Amaral.The family said Ronald McDonald House has been there for them every step of the way and now they want to return the favor. All money raised in support of Fred's Fun Run will go back to helping families like their own."Because since the beginning the Ronald McDonald House has embraced our mission to get Fred walking freely," said Amaral.Ronald McDonald House acknowledges its been a tough year. Their costs have increased while their funding has decreased during the pandemic.
