SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Frank Zamarron, 26, credits his Apple Watch for saving his life.“No warning signs, no pain no nothing,” Zamarron.  “All to know is that my Apple Watch started going off.”It was a Monday night in March, and his watch was alerting him something was wrong.“My heart-rate is elevated, and I'm just sitting at home watching TV relaxing from a long day at work,” he said. “After the fourth alert, I was like okay, something is not right. Time for me to a go to the hospital.”It was a decision that saved his life. It turns out, Zamarron contracted cellulitis, a skin infection, on his right leg. Soon after doctors started treating him, his leg began to blister.“Apparently your body is reacting to the infection trying to fight it off, doing everything it can, raising your heart rate,” Zamarron said. “They said it could have been fatal in a certain situation. Depending on how I treated it. Typically you would take pain pills or something and call it a day.”Zamarron spent seven days in the hospital.Doctors told him his weight might have contributed to the infection. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Higher than usual tide will crash along San Diego County's shores this weekend as king tides roll into the coast.King tides are expected to pound San Diego's coastline between Jan. 10 to 12 and again Feb. 8 and 9. The naturally occurring high tide happens when there is an alignment of the gravitational pull between the sun and moon, according to the California King Tides Project.While the outcome produces amazing imagery and scenes of ocean water splashing over shorelines, it can be hazardous at times. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — For the first time Tuesday, 12-year-old Kiera Latulippe faced the man who killed her entire family in a drunk driving crash. The Valley Center girl was in the car with her family headed to the Austin, Texas, airport after vacation when the drunk driver hit their car head-on. Her father, Scott; mother, Nancy, and 14-year-old brother, Jackson, all died. Kiera was the only one to survive. On Friday, Guy Brasted was sentenced to 18 years in prison. After the sentencing, Kiera and her uncle and legal guardian, Mark Latulippe, took the stand with an emotional message for Brasted. "It made me miss out on so much, like daddy daughter dances," Kiera said, listing the things she can't do now that her family has been ripped away from her. RELATED: Valley Center remembers family killed in DUI crashOn Tuesday, after the pair returned from the sentencing in Texas, Latulippe told 10News, "it was extremely emotional for her having to look at this again and place herself in that car again." Brasted had a blood alcohol level more than double the legal limit at the time of the crash."My brother, Jackson, and I had something I can never have with someone else, and it kills me to know I will never have that feeling with anyone else. Everyday I think about him," Kiera said.Since the accident happened two years ago, Latulippe has taken his niece into his own care."I can't replace, I'm a fill-in parent for someone who has tragically had everything robbed from her in one moment," Latulippe says.Latulippe is a CHP officer for California Highway Patrol. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — FBI investigators are looking for an armed suspect who stormed into a Mira Mesa bank Wednesday and ransacked the bank's vault.The man stormed into the Cal Coast Credit Union located at 9825 Mira Mesa Blvd. just before 10 a.m. Wednesday. The man, who was wearing a mask and hood, jumped on a counter and made verbal demands to the bank's tellers.The man displayed a handgun, ordered several employees to the ground, and demanded access to the bank's vault, investigators say.While inside the vault, the man empties a recycling bin and used it to collect cash from the vault. He then fled in a white Chevy Z71 pickup truck that investigators say he backed up to the bank's entrance before entering.The man is described as possibly African American, 5' 5" tall, weighing 150 pounds with muscular build, and was last seen wearing a black ski mask, navy blue hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, black gloves, and a black mask.Anyone with information is asked to call San Diego FBI at 858-320-1800 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477. 1048
