As a clinical psychologist, Dr. Carcel often deals with and speaks about gun violence and trauma. "I've talked about Parkland shooting. I've talked about the Orlando shooting. And to have it happen here, to have it happen here so close to home, is still so jarring and so rattling and really brings the message that it can happen anywhere," Dr. Carcel said. Carcel now wears both the witness hat and the clinical psychologist hat. She is giving advice to everyone involved. "This is going to have acute side effects," Dr. Carcel said. "You're going to have post-traumatic stress that could occur within a period of time. Just monitoring and making sure that they are getting the counseling and support that they need."She hopes for the end of senseless shootings, even if it means she may be out of a job.
