SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — It's the final countdown for the San Diego Zoo's remaining panda bears.The zoo has launched a three-week farewell celebration for 27-year-old giant panda Bai Yun and her son, 6-year-old Xiao Liwu, before the two are repatriated to China this spring. Multi-day visit passes are also available, starting at .60 for adults and .60 for children ages 3-11.Once inside the zoo, head over to Panda Canyon. To do so, hang a right on "Front Street" after entering the park and head toward Bieler Plaza. Take a left a the plaza and follow the road down to the panda exhibit. Or take the skytram over the exhibit, and double back over Bashor Bridge. A stairwell at the end of the bridge will lead to Panda Canyon below. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Lifeguards are working to rescue a man stuck on a rock near Border Field State Park Monday afternoon. Lifeguards say they received a call from Border Patrol before noon Monday about a man stuck in the middle of an estuary bear the park. San Diego and Imperial Beach lifeguards as well as the Coastguard is helping with the rescue. The man was taken to the hospital and is expected to be okay. 421

Testers ran speed software every two minutes on sets of Samsung Galaxy S10 series phones for about 15 minutes in each location.For San Diego County, AT&T scored the "fastest" title ahead of T-Mobile, Verizon, and Sprint."In San Diego, AT&T had nearly double the average download speed of the next-fastest network, with excellent reliability," PC Mag writes. "The carrier has been spreading its 5G Evolution LTE improvements up and down the California coastline, and we really saw the positive benefits this year."AT&T's average download speed was recorded at 90.7 Mbps, compared to Sprint's 51.5 Mbps, T-Mobile's 44.2 Mbps, and Verizon's 36.4 Mbps averages. Uploads over 2 Mbps were successful 97% of the time on AT&T's network, 96% on Verizon, 94% on T-Mobile, and 74% on Sprint.Overall, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon were all given a 100% reliability score. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — It’s approaching one year since a San Diego Navy Sailor was hurt in an explosion while on deployment, leaving him paralyzed.Saturday, community members rallied together to support wounded sailor, Kenton Stacy, on his journey to recovery. Hundreds of people gathered in Liberty Station for the Stacy Strong 5k.“We feel very blessed,” says Kenton Stacy’s wife, Lindsey. “All the love and support we’ve seen over the last year just has been amazing.”The event had live music, a silent auction, and awards for race winners. During this time last year, the Navy EOD tech was deployed in Afghanistan when an IED exploded while he was clearing out a hospital. The explosion left him paralyzed from the neck down.“It’s definitely been a very hard year… There’s been highs, there’s been lows,” says Lindsey Stacy. Her husband has not made it home from the hospital just yet but, today he was transported and joined family and friends at the event.“I just think he feels so blessed," she added.The funds for the event will go to the EOD warrior foundation. The organization provides financial assistance and resources to wounded active duty service members and veterans. Stacy’s “Alive Day” anniversary is November 9.  1270

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — MiraCosta College is expanding upon a state promise to help make community college more affordable.MiraCosta College announced Tuesday plans to offer free tuition for all first-time college students for the first two years of classes at the campus. Part of the MiraCosta Promise, the plan would be available for all first-time students starting in fall 2019 who are enrolled in at least 12 units per semester.Students must also file a free application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or a California Dream Act (CADAA) application.RELATED: Cost of college: What parents and students can expect to pay for admissionThe waiver is dependent upon the passage of Assembly Bill 2, which expands the California College Promise program. Former Gov.
