Here's what's happening in the political world Saturday, April 28, 2018.Trump blasts Tester over Jackson opposition-- President Trump called on Montana Democratic Sen. Jon Tester to resign over his opposition to White House physician Ronny Jackson's nomination for secretary of veterans affairs. The president blasted Tester on Twitter, saying the senator's allegations were not fair and "proving false."Allegations made by Senator Jon Tester against Admiral/Doctor Ron Jackson are proving false. The Secret Service is unable to confirm (in fact they deny) any of the phony Democrat charges which have absolutely devastated the wonderful Jackson family. Tester should resign. The.....— Donald J. Holding global warming to a critical limit would require "rapid, far-reaching and unprecedented changes in all aspects of society," says a key report from the global scientific authority on climate change. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report was released Monday at the 48th Session of the IPCC in Incheon, South Korea. It focuses on the impacts of global warming reaching 1.5 degrees Celsius (2.7 degrees Fahrenheit) above pre-industrial levels. The planet is already two-thirds of the way there, with global temperatures having warmed about 1 degree C.According to the report, the planet will reach this crucial threshold as early as 2030 based on our current levels of greenhouse gas emissions -- and avoiding going even higher will require significant action in the next few years.Global net emissions of carbon dioxide would need to fall by 45% from 2010 levels by 2030 and reach "net zero" around 2050 in order to keep the warming around 1.5 degrees Celsius.Lowering emissions to this degree would require widespread changes in energy, industry, buildings, transportation and cities, the report says. But even if warming is able to be kept to 1.5 degrees Celsius, the impacts would be widespread and significant.Temperatures during summer heatwaves, such as those just experienced across Europe this summer, can be expected to increase by 3 degrees Celsius, according to the report.More frequent or intense droughts, such as the one that nearly ran the taps in Cape Town, South Africa, dry, as well as more frequent extreme rainfall events such as hurricanes Harvey and Florence in the United States, are also pointed to as expectations as we reach the warming threshold.Monday's report is three years in the making and is a direct result of the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement. In the Paris accord, 197 countries agreed to the goal of holding global temperatures "well below" 2 degrees C above pre-industrial levels and to pursue efforts to limit it to 1.5 degrees C.The United States was initially in the agreement. But President Donald Trump pulled the country out?a year and half later, claiming it was unfair to the country. 2185

Hip-hop is going hard at President Donald Trump, and Snoop Dogg is the latest rapper to step into the ring — his newest album's cover shows an image of the rapper standing over a dead body that resembles Trump. The image, posted to Instagram earlier this week, was later removed. The post follows controversy in March when Snoop Dogg put out a music video in which he pointed a toy gun at a clown that looked like the president and was named Ronald Klump. Trump tweeted about it. 486

Here's what's happening in the political world Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018.War of words between Former CIA Director, President Trump— Former CIA Director John Brennan criticized President Trump Friday, saying he is "drunk on power," days after his security clearance was revoked by the president."The fact that he's using a security clearance of a former CIA director as a pawn in his public relations strategy I think is just so reflective of somebody who, quite frankly, I don't want to use this term maybe, but he's drunk on power. He really is, and I think he's abusing the powers of that office," Brennan told MSNBC's Rachel Maddow during an interview.Trump pulled Brennan's clearance on Wednesday. The former CIA head has been critical of Trump, who has accused Brennan of "lying" and giving "increasingly frenzied commentary" on television.Trump responded Saturday, calling Brennan a "loudmouth, partisan, political hack who cannot be trusted with the secrets to our country!"Read more.Manafort trial jury to continue deliberations Monday— Jurors will continue their deliberations in the trial of former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort.Manafort is charged with 18 counts of tax evasion, bank fraud, and hiding foreign bank accounts as part of special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 US election."I think the whole Manafort trial is very sad. ... I think it's a very sad day for our country," the President said at the White House. "He happens to be a very good person, and I think it's very sad what they've done to Paul Manafort."Manafort's defense attorney Kevin Downing told reporters they "really appreciate the support of President Trump." 1721

Getting hired for a job in today's market can be frustrating and challenging. Career experts say if you think about your soft skills and what you value you offer a company, you’ll have a leg up.As we all continue to work from home, LinkedIn career expert Blair Heitmann says jobs in the remote sector are hot.Remote jobs are in demand, Heitmann said. “I mean we are seeing an uptick of remote jobs across LinkedIn. You don’t necessarily have to be in the same city to find those opportunities as well."Because of the pandemic, many jobs aren’t available. Heitmann said applicants should try and focus on what jobs are available in a similar sector.“Try to think through how to transfer to a role that would be a stepping stone for you to get there,” Heitmann said. “It might not be your dream job out of the gate, but it would help you gain the skills you need to get towards that eventually.”Employers right now are also focused on soft skills.Teamwork, communication, problem-solving, those are all examples of soft skills, Heitmann said. If you are good at solving problems, customer service might be an area that could be good for you.For many people, going back to school or learning a trade is not an option. LinkedIn says sales associate, delivery driver, construction worker, and project manager are all jobs in sectors hiring, to name a few.The hiring website offers 12,000 courses online for job seekers to take. The bottom line, update your resume and cover letter. Have a beautiful headshot for your profile picture and enable job alerts on whatever hiring website you choose."Our data shows us that people who tend to apply early and jump on the opportunity once it’s completely posted are more likely to get the position," Heitmann said.WFTS' Michael Paluska first reported this story. 1807
