DENVER – Right-wing restaurateur Lauren Boebert defeated incumbent Rep. Scott Tipton handily in Colorado's Third Congressional District Republican primary on Tuesday, just one day after President Donald Trump gave a Twitter endorsement to Tipton.Tipton conceded the race just after 9 p.m. local time on Tuesday."3rd District Republicans have decided who they want to run against the Democrats this November. I want to congratulate Lauren Boebert and wish her and her supporters well," Tipton said in a statement.As of 9:38 p.m. Boebert led Tipton by 9 percentage points, 54% to 46%. The Associated Press called the race at 9:30 p.m.Tipton is in his fifth term as the Third Congressional District representative, but Boebert challenged him from the right this year in an effort to win over more conservative voters who believe Tipton has sided with Democrats too often on bipartisan deals.Boebert owns Shooters Grill in Rifle, where employees open-carry firearms while serving. The restaurant was shut down by health officials last month she opened in lieu of Colorado public health guidance amid the coronavirus pandemic.Boebert has touted her Second Amendment bonafides during the campaign. Her website says she is "heading to Congress to drain the swamp, stand up for our rights, and tell all the left-wing lunatics we don't want more government control, we want our freedom!"She received support from some county sheriffs in western Colorado. She gained national attention last year when she yelled at then-Democratic presidential candidate Beto O'Rourke at a rally, "Hell no, you won't take our guns."She also discussed being interested in the QAnon conspiracy theory in an online show captured by Media Matters."No, honestly, everything that I've heard of Q, I hope that this is real. Because it only means that America is getting stronger and better, and people are returning to conservative values, and that's what I am for," she said in the interview clip. "And so, everything that I have heard about this movement is only motivating and encouraging and bringing people together, stronger. And if this is real, then it can be really great for our country."QAnon is a far-right conspiracy theory that details Trump's fight against a takeover plot by the "deep state." The baseless theory has resulted in many supporters harassing and "doxing" public figures. In 2018, an armed man blocked a highway at the Hoover Dam, demanding information linked to the conspiracy. He's since pleaded guilty to making terroristic threats.Boebert said in an interview Tuesday night that November's Third Congressional District race will be "a fight for freedom against the Democrats.""People don't want the government telling them how to live their lives," she said. "They want to be free and live their own lives and pursue their own happiness, and I'll fight for that every day."Boebert said she "didn't feel like we were being represented effectively" in regard to her challenge against Tipton, but said she would try to win over his supporters."It's time to rally together and get everyone who supported Congressman Tipton to join us in this fight," she said.Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairwoman Cheri Bustos called on Republicans to denounce Boebert because of the QAnon statements."Not even multiple endorsements from President Trump could save Congressman Scott Tipton from his extreme, QAnon caucus challenger. DEL MAR (CNS) - A 4-year-old gelding died today during training at the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club, the second horse lost during the 81st summer meet.Irreproachable suffered an unspecified injury this morning during a workout, according to Del Mar track spokesman Mac McBride. Irreproachable had raced twice, once at Santa Anita in May and once at Del Mar last month, McBride said.The other fatality involved Lovely Lilia, a 3-year-old filly that suffered a fatal injury during a morning workout on July 11, and was later euthanized.McBride said Del Mar has not lost any horses during racing for the past two summer meets.While there were no racing deaths, four training deaths were recorded last summer, while the subsequent fall meeting saw three racing deaths and two in training.McBride noted that in both 2018 and 2019, the Jockey Club's Equine Injury Database recognized Del Mar as the safest major track in the United States.``We hope to continue in that role this year,'' he said. (KGTV) - Smugglers tried to unload a boat full of marijuana next to multi-million dollar homes in Del Mar early Monday, the Border Patrol said.The panga came ashore between Carmel Valley Rd. and 4th St. about 3 a.m.Border Patrol agents said they detained at least two people who were unloading bales of marijuana.Each bundle of pot contained between 30 and 50 pounds of the plant.The smell of marijuana was strong a dozen feet away, according to 10News photographer Paul Anderegg.  510

DETROIT, Mich. - The number of passengers flying daily in the United State is growing but we’re only seeing a 40% total traffic when compared to a year ago.So airlines are still forced to operate on reduced schedules, some telling us it has created a flight booking headache.With travel down by about 70%, it's been a rough go for the airline industry, but passengers tell me there have been some upsides."Rescheduling the flight was a piece of cake," said one traveler."There's like no one in the middle seat, that’s super nice," said another traveler.Middle seats blocked, no change fees, and more lenient cancellations policies have all made flying much more appealing but traveling during the pandemic also mean dealing with a lot of changes."Saying it was frustrating is an understatement, it was utter chaos," said Kellie McDaniel.McDaniel of Monroe was thrilled about her November trip to the US Virgin Islands, that is until a change by the airline made it so that."Our connecting flights would not match up," said McDaniel.Now, the company did offer her a refund because they could not fix the issue."But then we were left with no airline," said McDaniel.
