(CNS) - Former Angels public relations director Eric Kay surrendered to federal authorities in Texas Friday on a drug-distribution charge stemming from the overdose death of pitcher Tyler Skaggs.Kay, 45, was charged with conspiracy to distribute a mixture containing detectable amounts of fentanyl, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office in Dallas. Kay was arrested in Forth Worth, Texas, and made his initial appearance before a federal judge Friday morning.The complaint was filed July 30 and unsealed Friday upon Kay's arrest.Skaggs, 27, was found dead in his hotel room at the Southlake Town Square Hilton on July 1, 2019. An Okeechobee, Florida boy on the autism spectrum is facing his fifth charge, and the boy's mother said she plans on fighting them all, while working to get her son back in school soon.The video his mom shot went viral last year.Scripps station WPTV in West Palm Beach is now learning there's more trouble for John Benjamin Haygood, the little boy in the middle of it all.His mother, Luanne Haygood, says the state has filed four additional felony charges against John Benjamin.She says the felonies, all of them for felony battery, came as a bit of a surprise, as the incidents in question took place in 2015.“I don't see the point in putting up four more charges that happened when he was 8 years old,” Haygood said. "There's a reason why we don't arrest 8-year-olds."Last year, she recorded video on her phone as school resource deputies took John Benjamin into custody, charging him with felony battery on a school employee.The now 11-year-old is on the autism spectrum, and his mom says it was an autism-related episode.The state prosecutor, however, said John Benjamin has more than 50 other documented incidents of physically aggressive behavior towards students and teachers.“There's so many 7- to 12-year-old boys with autism that are getting arrested for meltdowns and behavior that can be avoided of the schools know how to react,” Haygood said.Haygood said she is fighting back. “He's regressing educationally, he's regressing emotionally, he's not been around other children,” Haygood said.John Benjamin is set to have his next court date next month.WPTV reached out to the state attorney's office, but no one was available for comment Tuesday. 1715

An Arizona man is facing a second-degree murder charge after shooting his girlfriend in the face at his Mesa apartment on Sunday morning.According to police, around 8:30 a.m. officers responded to a report of an accidental shooting near Country Club Drive and Broadway Road.Responding officers found the woman with a gunshot wound to the eye. She was transported to the hospital and was pronounced dead, police said. During interviews with police, 22-year-old Martin Larney confirmed that his girlfriend had spent the previous night at the apartment, which he shares with his brother.Larney told police that as the victim was sitting on the floor changing her clothes, he tossed his handgun onto a couch in the room, causing it to go off and strike her.Police said Larney changed his story twice, initially reporting that he was trying to clear a round when the gun discharged, then finally admitting he was waving the gun at the victim because he "was upset at what she was wearing."According to police documents, Larney also admitted that he thought about shooting the victim as the gun went off, and had "thought about shooting the victim in the past."Larney has been booked on one count of second-degree murder.   1260

An off-duty Forrest City, Arkansas police officer was shot and killed inside of his home Saturday afternoon from a gunman who sprayed dozens of bullets into the officer's home. An eyewitness told WREG-TV that Officer Oliver Johnson, Jr. was inside his home when someone in a vehicle sprayed the home with as many as 40 bullets. At least one of those bullets struck Johnson. Johnson's family attempted to perform CPR on the officer before paramedics arrived. Police told WREG that they do not believe Johnson was the target. "It was an encounter between the suspects and another group outside of the apartment," West Memphis Police Captain Joe Baker told WREG.  "This hits everyone a little close to home in law enforcement. He was a police officer, some of my officers did, in fact, know him."  847
