SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A Kearny Mesa hotel will be used as a new coronavirus quarantine site in San Diego.The Ramada by Wyndham San Diego North Hotel & Conference Center will be utilized as a new quarantine site in San Diego, according to the hotel.Individuals heading to the location have undergone medical screenings and show only mild to no symptoms. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A local hardware store is hoping to find the family of a mysterious model the store used for an ad when it first opened its doors in the late 1800s.The woman, known as the “Hardware Lady,” modeled hardware items on her dress for one of San Diego Hardware’s first advertisements 125 years ago.The company is hoping to identify the mystery model in time for their December 8 anniversary party. The store also hopes to honor the model and her family.The model’s dress was styled with keys, locks and chains and a small wood burning stove. The woman’s crown was made of spoons, clothespins and other hardware from the store.The store was founded in 1892 and now operates in Kearny Mesa and online. 721

San Diego (KGTV) - A San Diego man claims San Diego County Sheriff deputies roughed him up in jail and the incident was caught on camera.He’s calling the deputies' actions an abuse of power.“I’m actually pissed,” said Joshua Strode. “I’m actually very angry.”San Diego State University police arrested Strode back in June for being drunk in public, something he denies.Strode was taken to San Diego Central Jail. He claimed he was inside the first-floor intake area when deputies came at him from all directions.“I kept on trying to tell them, 'You’re hurting me badly, please stop," he said.A video given to Team 10 from inside the jail shows Strode’s encounter with law enforcement. 692

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A person was hit and killed following a crash in San Diego late Saturday night. CHP says a driver lost control and crashed on SR-94 just west of I-805 around 10:30 p.m. Saturday night. According to officers, the driver then got out of the car and started walking to an off-ramp when they were hit by another vehicle. The victim died at the scene, CHP says. The car that hit the victim fled the scene. At this time, it’s unclear if drugs or alcohol were factors in either crash. 506

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A major crash on state Route 94 in San Diego’s Webster area sent several people to the hospital and caused traffic backups early Monday morning.According to California Highway Patrol, at around 12: 10 a.m., a black sedan traveling on southbound Euclid Avenue somehow veered off the roadway, went down an embankment and onto westbound SR-94.The crash caused a chain reaction of vehicles slamming into the back of the black sedan while the driver was trapped inside.To prevent the pile-up from getting worse, witnesses sprang into action using a light to wave down the traffic.When fire crews arrived, they had to use the jaws of life to remove the driver from her car. She was taken to a hospital with major injuries.Several other drivers were also transported to a hospital with minor injuries.CHP is investigating what caused the black car to lose control and crash. 895
