SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The Grinch is back yet again to steal Christmas from San Diego.The Old Globe Theatre's production of "Dr. Suess's How the Grinch Stole Christmas!" returns to San Diego for its run from Nov. 4 to Dec. 24. Back for its 20th year, the holiday classic brings Whoville to the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in Balboa Park. The Grinch, played by Edward Watts, will embark on a quest to stop Christmas from gracing the town of Whoville, featuring the songs "This Time of Year," "Santa for a Day," and "Fah Who Doraze."RELATED: Holiday family fun around San Diego this seasonBut the action isn't just on the stage.On Sunday, Nov. 12, the show will kick off with the 12th annual tree lighting outside the Globe with a special performance by the cast for free. On Dec. 2, the show plays on the background of Balboa Nights, giving families the chance for a full day of holiday fun.Preview performances will run from Nov. 4 to Nov. 8, with opening night occurring Nov. 9. Tickets begin at for adults and for children 17-years-old and under. Children under three will be admitted to 11 a.m. shows only. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The Medical Board of California has filed an accusation and petition to revoke the probation of a Del Mar doctor who is accused of prowling in a former girlfriend’s backyard.10News first broke the story about Dr. Jeffrey Lovin in May after we were given home security video showing a man lurking behind a home. An ex-girlfriend said the man in the video was Dr. Lovin, a radiologist. Lovin was charged with prowling, peeking and violating a restraining order. He pleaded not guilty.At the time, Lovin was already on probation with the Medical Board for other criminal activity. This month, the Board issued an accusation and petition to revoke his probation. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The family of a YouTube star who drove his McLaren the wrong way on the 805 last year, killing a mom and her daughter, are suing the City of San Diego, County of San Diego, and the Psychiatric Emergency Response Team (PERT).The lawsuit claims the “horrific and tragic event” was entirely preventable.Eighteen-year-old Trevor Heitmann, known as McSkillet, drove his McLaren the wrong way on the freeway in August 2018, killing Aileen Pizarro and her 12-year-old daughter Aryana. The sports car collided with the family's SUV, which burst into flames.RELATED: Autopsy details mental state of McSkillet before deadly crash on Interstate 805 in San DiegoIn the lawsuit Heitmann's family claims "SDPD was warned by Plaintiff's on the day of, but before his death, that Trevor intended to drive his McLaren at a high rate of speed in the wrong direction on a public roadway, under the delusion that he (Trevor) could drive through vehicles traveling in the opposite direction without incident."Worried about their sons' dangerous intentions and fearing for his well-being, as well as the safety of others, Dr. Mary Rusher, a board-certified psychiatrist, called 911 and made a 5150 request for a psychiatric hold, the lawsuit alleges.The lawsuit claims, "Defendants' purported PERT response team conducted either or both no assessment or the wrong assessment of the mental health status of Plaintiffs' son Trevor, pursuant to and under California Welfare and Institutions Code 5150."RELATED: YouTuber's parents requested psychiatric evaluation before deadly I-805 crashIt alleges, defendants also failed and refused requests to take Heitmann into protective detention to transport him to a designated evaluation and treatment facility."As a consequence, and despite Plaintiffs' attempts to ensure their son's safety and the safety of others by blocking the driveway of their residents, Trevor later that day left his residence and drive the McLaren to the Interstate 805 Freeway where he was killed in the beforementioned collision, which also tragically took the lives of the Pizarros."A spokesman for the County of San Diego told 10News they couldn't comment.RELATED: Son remembers mother and sister after release of driver's autopsy in deadly 805 crashAs of this writing, officials with the City of San Diego and PERT have not responded to 10News requests for comment.This is the third lawsuit filed regarding the 2018 crash. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The cities of Escondido and La Mesa are taking measures to help restaurants expand outdoor dining after a rollback of indoor dining in the county due to surging coronavirus cases.Starting Friday, Escondido will reduce traffic to one lane in each direction on Grand Avenue, between Maple Street and Juniper St., to allow restaurants to expand temporary outdoor seating. One lane will be reserved for parking.The city says it's also making other moves to help restaurants, including:Providing temporary barriers to restaurants for safety;Downtown Business Association has committed ,000 for shade coverings, tables, and chairs to support this effort, streamlined permitting processes for restaurants, and will reimburse businesses the 0 Alcohol Beverage Control permit fee to allow them to serve alcohol outside;City is working on the Business Recovery Temporary Use Permit for Escondido businesses.RELATED:San Diego restaurants expand to parking lots and sidewalks to stay afloatMayor Faulconer, other local leaders take action to keep restaurants openIn La Mesa, an executive order was issued Thursday to temporarily allow the use of public and private outdoor areas by restaurants for dining, with approval of the city's Director of Community Development.The city says it's also not charging fees or requiring permits for businesses that have permission to use public and private outdoor areas for dining.The moves come after indoor dining was suspended this week at restaurants throughout San Diego County, after the county was placed on California's County Monitoring List due to surging coronavirus cases. 1642
