It houses several 3D printers which each serve a specific purpose."Digital manufacturing can be extremely useful in a combat situation or a disaster zone because we can take this shelter and deploy it to anywhere it's needed. We're able to provide parts that are not readily available, and we're able to get our equipment operational faster," said Staff Sgt. Samuel Margarini.Rather than ordering a part and waiting up to a week, the Marines can re-create a part within 24 hours, improving readiness and operational momentum.3D printing new parts is also cheaper and saves resources. "Since implementation we've had a huge impact on different platforms, we've made parts for trucks, humvees, tanks, and some drones," said Margarini.While only being used in training, for now, shelters like this will eventually be deployed where needed by the Marine Corps. 1098

Karina Sanchez searches for the right words. "We can't even believe how great business has been, we're so so thankful for it."Sanchez and her husband are owners of Waterhorse Charters in Mission Bay. Opening just last year, they offer scuba diving tours, party cruises, fishing and whale watching excursions.When the pandemic hit, they were forced to temporarily shutdown by state mandate. But once given the green light to reopen, Sanchez says business has been booming, with people want to get out and do it safely."I feel like people get a little more comfortable going out in the water," says Sanchez, "Something that's outdoors; than having, for instance, a house party or just going to bars or something like that."Sanchez connects with many of her customers through the site GetMyBoat.Com, which is kind of like Airbnb for boats."There's some data that suggests the average boat is only used 8 to 10% of the year," says Val Streif, who represents GetMyBoat.com from their headquarters in Minneapolis. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Mayor Kevin Faulconer is proposing new regulations for dockless scooters around the city.Faulconer, Council members Lori Zapf and Chris Cate, and representatives from the scooter companies held a press conference Monday morning at NTC Park, in Liberty Station to address growing concerns over the safety of dockless scooters. “We want to make sure that its safe, that there are clear rules of the road and regulations that make sense.”Faulconer is proposing to “geo-fence” certain areas around the city. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - If you look up to the early morning sky on next week, there's a good chance you'll catch NASA's rocket launch.NASA's InSight is scheduled to launch May 5 from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California between 4:05 a.m. and 6:05 a.m., weather permitting.
