During an hour-long press conference at the White House on Tuesday, officials with the Trump administration floated a plan in which they would send cash directly to citizens "within two weeks" in an attempt to boost the economy amid the coronavirus pandemic.Treasury Sec. Steve Mnuchin did not go into specifics about the plan, and said more details would be released in the coming hours and days. Mnuchin added that should such a program go into effect, it would likely be sent to lower- and middle-class Americans within two weeksWhen asked about a plan based on the payroll tax, President Donald Trump said his administration preferred sending cash to individuals directly because it would more quickly boost the economy. Trump later said his administration could also still include a payroll tax as part of their stimulus package, or a combination of cash payments and payroll tax.Sen. Dog owners need to stop feeding dogs pig ear treats to end the spread of Salmonella to both humans and dogs nationwide, the CDC said on Wednesday. The CDC's statement comes weeks after previous advisories indicating that dozens have become sick after their dogs consumed pig ear treats. Even after the CDC said two weeks ago that there is a possible correlation between pig ear treats for dogs and Salmonella illness in humans, 34 people have reported an illness. In total, 127 have become ill in connection to this Salmonella outbreak, the CDC says. Nearly 30% of the illnesses have resulted in hospitalizations, the CDC says. The CDC said that the treats came from many different suppliers and is the likely source of this outbreak. The CDC offers the following advice:Tips to stay healthy while feeding your dogAlways wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water right after handling pet food or treats, including pig ears. When possible, store pet food and treats away from where human food is stored or prepared and away from the reach of young children.Don’t use your pet’s feeding bowl to scoop food. Use a clean, dedicated scoop, spoon, or cup.Always follow any storage instructions on pet food bags or containers.Play safelyDon’t let your pet lick your mouth or face after it eats pet food or treats.Don’t let your pet lick any open wounds or areas with broken skin.If you do play with your pet after it has just eaten, wash your hands and any part of your body it licked with soap and water.Shop safelyAlways wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water after touching unpackaged pet treats, such as food or treats in bulk bins.Take extra care around young childrenChildren younger than 5 years old should not touch or eat pet food or treats.Young children are at risk for illness because their immune systems are still developing and because they are more likely than others to put their fingers or other items into their mouths.Adults should supervise handwashing for young childrenHow do I know if my dog has Salmonella infection? Some dogs may have Salmonella infection but may not look sick. Dogs with a Salmonella infection usually have diarrhea that may contain blood or mucus. Affected animals may seem more tired than usual, and may have a fever or vomit. If your dog or cat has these signs of illness or you are concerned that your pet may have Salmonellainfection, please contact your pet’s veterinarian. 2439

Ellie Kemper doesn't want to call the ending of "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" "bittersweet."The star told CNN the show wrapped filming at the end of June."We were filming the fourth season and we found out as we were filming it that it would be the final season," Kemper said. "In streaming age, that is actually like a fully lived life and feels like we had a lot of episodes given the world we live in now. But it still felt sad because I love these characters, I love the people I get to work with and so it's just a little bit of a loss."The second half of the show's fourth season starts streaming on Netflix in January. The new episodes will serve as the swan song for the quirky comedy about a woman trying to make her way in the real world after being held captive for years with a group of others in a bunker. It's clear that Kemper has a lot of affection for the character of Kimmy Schmidt, which she took on after the role that launched her to fame as receptionist Erin Hannon in "The Office."The actress is proud of the work she and her co-stars have done on "Unbreakable," even as she mourns its ending."I am so happy with how these stories ended," Kemper said. "Every character sort of finishes his or her journey in a really satisfying way. That felt really nice to leave on that note."Production on the series ended over the summer."It feels like we wrapped a long time ago, which is why I'm so excited for these episodes to come out in January, because I feel like I haven't seen them yet," Kemper said. "It almost feels like a lifetime ago that we finished, so I feel comforted it's going to be back in the world."This season hilariously sends up some timely topics, including the #MeToo movement.Kemper said she believes "it's great that everyone can have their voice be heard in this day and age" and said she doesn't think the show goes too far with the sensitive topic."I think that comedy is great way of dealing with the tough stuff," Kemper said. "[Showrunners] Robert [Carlock] and Tina [Fey] have been doing that so brilliantly all their careers."It's all treated intelligently, Kemper said, even as it's played for laughs. So, what about the speculation that an "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" movie could be in the works?"I know as much as you do," Kemper said. "I've seen rumors online and I hope that it comes true. I don't know anything beyond that."And how about an "Office" reunion?"Oh, I would, but I don't know if everyone else would," said Kemper, who added that she is still working on what her next project might be. "Are you kidding? I would do it yesterday."The final episodes of "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" start streaming January 25 on Netflix.The-CNN-Wire? & ? 2018 Cable News Network, Inc., a Time Warner Company. DETROIT — Michigan sheriffs will let be letting parents know when their child is involved in a traffic stop. The Michigan Sheriffs' Association has partnered with State Farm to automate the S.T.O.P.P.E.D Program. S.T.O.P.P.E.D, or Sheriffs Telling Our Parents and Promoting Educated Drivers, is a voluntary program for parents who would like to be notified when their child is involved in a traffic stop by a sheriff's deputy. Parents do have to register to ensure they’re part of the program. And while some sheriff’s departments have been doing this for a few years, what’s new is that parents can now get a text if they are in Livingston or Mason counties. S.T.O.P.P.E.D Livingston and Mason Counties were selected to pilot the program. The idea is simple — if your son or daughter is pulled over and you’re signed up, the sheriff’s office will send a text 48 hours after they write the ticket. That delay is to make sure they have a chance to tell you themselves. In the past, the S.T.O.P.P.E.D program sent letters via mail. The pilot in Livingston will add texting as an option. The program is already up and running — click 1139
