BEIJING, May 14 (Xinhua) -- China's Vice Premier Li Keqiang Friday called for the development of a recycling economy to improve resource utilization efficiency and protect the environment.Developing a recycling economy was a significant mission for China, which urgently needed to change its economic growth mode of "high consumption, high pollution and poor recycling," said Li in an inspection tour to a state recycling economy pilot base under ChinaChem Group.Li said developing a recycling economy would help the enterprises improve product structures, fuel technology innovation and improve competitiveness. BEIJING, June 3 (Xinhua) -- Revised regulations on internal management, discipline and formation regulation of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) are issued Thursday to further advance the army's development and modernization.Chinese President Hu Jintao, also Chairman of China's Central Military Commission, recently signed an order to promulgate and enforce the three regulations.Unlike the previous version, the revised regulation on internal management adopted provisions on psychological counselling to armymen and provisions on their use of mobile phones and the Internet.It also modified a wide range of provisions covering oath, dress and bearings, as well as confidentiality rules, security systems and financial management.The three revised regulations are to come into force from June 15 this year.

BEIJING, May 19 (Xinhua) -- China's centrally-administered state-owned enterprises (SOEs) raked in a combined profit of 325.99 billion yuan (47.7 billion U.S. dollars) in the first four months of the year, the industry authorities announced here Wednesday.The profit figure in the January-April period represents 81.7 percent growth year on year, the State-Owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) said in a statement on its website.Centrally controlled SOE's combined operating revenue hit 4.89 trillion yuan in the period, up 50.4 percent year on year, the statement said.While the statement did not specify the reasons for the profit and revenue increases, experts from the SASAC research center attributed the surge to last year's low comparison basis when Chinese firms were hit hard by the global economic downturn.There are currently 126 centrally-administered SOEs under the SASAC.
