Some guys have a man cave in their homes. Clint Adams has turned his Utah basement into part science lab, part ammunition workshop.“I take a primer and put it in, and then, I load the charge,” Adams explained as he worked to load his own ammo.Adams' measurements are so precise, he measures the weight of the bullet he’s loading to the gram.“The brass I’m using is Alpha Brass and the powder is Hodgdon Varget,” Adams said. That may sound like a different language to you and me, but to the professional long-range precision shooter, it’s basic.“You can have the best fundamentals as a shooter, but if your ammo isn’t better than you, then you’re not going to have success,” Adams said. Before COVID-19, Adams would travel and compete in national competitions, but now he is spending more time in his backyard dry firing.“I’ll practice a lot like this, where I just lock into a tripod and practice a lot of things,” he said.Adams uses no magazines or no bullets when he practices now. There just isn't enough out there he said.“I definitely get some weird looks from people who may not know me or what I’m doing,” Adams said.It is not ideal, but there aren’t many options these days.“You know, it’s been the hardest thing to find primer and powder right now,” Adams said. “I just can’t believe how hard primers are to find.”At a gun store about 20 miles from Adams’ home, business has been booming.“This year has been a really good year,” said gun store owner Dave Larsen. “It turns our pandemic and civil unrest are really good for business.”Since March, Larsen has had a hard time keeping his shelves stocked.“Yeah, after people went and cleaned out the Costco for toilet paper, they came to the gun stores. He says his supply is one-third of what it was in January.“Some manufacturers source stuff from around the world and their supply lines were compromised during COVID and their distribution became,” Larsen explained. “When the demand ramped up, things really got crazy.”Back at Adams’ house, it was beginning to feel a little like Christmas morning. He got to fire real ammo for the first time in months.“I’d definitely say the shortage is affecting my ability to get out and stay sharp and keep my skills top level,” Adams said.A series of road trips all over the state made this day possible. Adams plans to do whatever it takes to keep up on his craft.“Yeah, I’ll drive three or four hours to be able to buy 1,000 primers to keep doing this,” he said.Just don’t ask him to reveal his favorite shooting location.“Not only is ammo really hard to come by, but so are good hunting spots,” he said with a smile. 2622

Sony’s PlayStation 5 was released to the public on Thursday, but good luck finding one… at least at retail value. The PlayStation 5 marked Sony’s newest generation console since the PlayStation 4 was released at the end of 2013. The PlayStation 5’s release coincides with Microsoft’s release this week of the XBOX Series X.A number of Twitter users expressed frustration with the purchase process as a number of stores sold out of their stock. Stores liked Walmart said they’ll continue to update their quantities. Some are using the initial scarcity of the console for profit. The disc version of the Playstation 5 sells for 9, but the bidding has gone for more than twice that price on Ebay. The PlayStation 5 offers a complete redesign to PlayStation’s classic controller. It also delivers graphics that are akin to powerful, more expensive gaming computers. But some experts say if you’re unable to initially score a PS5 to not fret. The initial offering of games is slim, but with time, the number of games available for the PS5 platform will grow. 1060

Some eggs and embryos at a San Francisco fertility center may no longer be viable after a storage tank malfunction. The Pacific Fertility Center said a piece of equipment in its cyro-storage laboratory "lost liquid nitrogen for a brief period of time" on March 4.It is the second clinic to report a fault that weekend. In an unrelated event, more than 2,000 frozen eggs and embryos were also left compromised at the University Hospitals Fertility Clinic in Cleveland after a malfunction caused temperatures to drop in the freezers where they were stored.Viable tissue recoveredIn a statement, the Pacific Fertility Center said "viable tissue" had been recovered from the one tank affected and that "the vast majority of the eggs and embryos in the lab were unaffected."The equipment was immediately retired and the facility is now operating securely, according to the statement."As soon as the issue was discovered, our most senior embryologists took immediate action to transfer those tissues from the affected equipment to a new piece of equipment."The center said it had brought in independent experts to conduct a full investigation and was reaching out to its patients: "We are truly sorry this happened and for the anxiety that this will surely cause."The clinic's president, Carl Herbert, told the Washington Post that staff had spent days sorting through records to establish which patients had tissue inside the affected storage tank, before clinic doctors called them."Anger is a big part of the phone call," Herbert told the Post. "Our goal is to provide all the patients we see with some kind of a family. ...We need to think: If this tissue doesn't work, what are the next steps, and have you not feel defeated."CNN has attempted to contact Herbert for comment.Cleveland clinicThe equipment malfunction at the fertility clinic in Cleveland that same weekend affected about 700 families, University Hospitals reported in a statement Thursday."We are incredibly sorry this happened. We are committed to getting answers and working with patients individually to address their concerns," the University Hospitals statement said. The eggs and embryos have been moved to a different cryotank in the meantime, but their viability remains questionable. The dilemma for those involved is that their eggs and embryos have to be completely thawed to determine whether they are still viable, but if thawed, they cannot be refrozen. The facility has set up a call center for patients to arrange and appointment or calls to speak with their physicians."At this point, we do not know the viability of all of the stored eggs and embryos, although we do know some have been impacted," said Patti DePompei, president of UH Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital, in a video posted Thursday on Facebook. "Right now, our patients and families are our first priority."Many people have been sharing personal concerns on the hospital's Facebook post. One, Marc Ellis, wrote, "my wife has eggs at that hospital...shes going crazy crying all morning...I don't know what to do..."Another, Amber Ash, wrote how sick she feels having two embryos involved in the malfunction, adding, "there is so much grief and a lack of control in the world of infertility and this compounds it."University Hospitals officials say procedure fees could be waived for future treatment, according to CNN affiliate WEWS.The-CNN-Wire? & ? 2018 Cable News Network, Inc., a Time Warner Company. Sixteen Idaho residents have been indicted on charges stemming from two federal investigations –- one, involving the large-scale manufacturing and sale of counterfeit cell phones, and the other, a cocaine, heroin and methamphetamine ring, according to a Thursday morning announcement by the U.S. Attorney’s Office. On Wednesday, federal agents and municipal police raided 12 homes, one warehouse, one business and a church in relation to the counterfeit phone investigation. At a press conference in Boise, U.S. Attorney Bart Davis said the fake phones involved the multi-million-dollar counterfeit scheme were manufactured in Hong Kong, then repackaged and distributed from the Boise area. Investigators said the phones were sold on Amazon and eBay.“This was the four-year investigation,” Davis stated. Agents from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Department of Homeland Security, the Internal Revenue Service, the U.S. Postal Inspector’s Service Office, as well as officers from the Boise Police and Meridian Police Departments served search warrants on the properties Wednesday, packing out boxes presumably containing evidence. The U.S. Attorney’s Office says anyone who believes they may be a victim may visit the Department of Justice’s large case website for more information: www.justice.gov/largecases. One business is located on Bridger Street, near the intersection of Cloverdale Road and Chinden Blvd., the Eagle homes are on Pasa Tiempo Way, and the Meridian home authorities raided is on West Spruce Creek Drive.Neighbors tell us the residents of the two Eagle homes that were searched have lived in the neighborhood some twelve years, and have “kept pretty much to themselves.” According to the Ada County Assessor’s Office, the two homes are owned by Gennady and Pavel Babichenko, known by neighbors as “Henry” and “Paul.”According to federal court documents, those arrested in the counterfeit phone scheme now face over 30 federal charges.Pavel Babichenko (aka Paul Babichenko)Charged with: 2111

Six children in Minnesota have been diagnosed with a rare "polio-like" disease since mid-September, state health officials said.Acute flaccid myelitis, known as AFM, affects the body's nervous system -- specifically, the spinal cord -- and can cause paralysis. Unlike polio, there is no vaccine for AFM.Minnesota typically sees less than one case a year, the state Department of Health reported. The disease typically affects children; all the recent cases in Minnesota were in children younger than 10.AFM can develop from a viral infection, although its exact cause is unknown. Symptoms include limb weakness, facial drooping and trouble swallowing or talking. Doctors stress the importance of recognizing the early signs of AFM and seeking care as soon as possible. 776
