(KGTV) -- Police are investigating two violent incidents that occurred at Chula Vista’s Otay Ranch Town Center in recent weeks.The Chula Vista Police Department is asking for the public’s help as they try to find the people suspected in a stabbing incident on Sept. 25 and an assault on Oct. 2 that happened at the mall on 2015 Birch Rd.In the Sept. 25 incident, at around 6 p.m., two people were approached by a group of four people, and then “three of the subjects began assaulting one of the victims,” police said.Police said one victim was stabbed in the back of the leg and had their backpack stolen. The other victim was not hurt, but one of the assailants took their cell phone.According to police, the incident was captured on video and shared on social media. The suspects in this case were described by police as Black male juveniles.In the Oct. 2 incident, a person was with friends at the mall when he was approached by about eight juveniles. Police said, “One of the suspects then punched the victim and a second suspect stole the victim’s Boston Red Sox baseball hat. Chinese spacecraft Tiangong-1 is tumbling out of orbit above Earth, and is expected to re-enter Earth's atmosphere uncontrolled this weekend, the European Space Agency said. The spacecraft will re-enter Earth's atmosphere between Saturday morning and Monday morning. Tiangong-1 was at orbit roughly 200 miles above Earth after it launched in 2011. Slight atmospheric drag causes spacecrafts to decay in their altitude. As a result, spacecrafts have to conduct regular ‘reboost maneuvers’ to maintain their orbit, the European Space Agency said. Since December 2015, controllers on the ground have been unable to perform such maneuvers to keep it in orbit. Originally the plan was to control its re-entry to direct the craft into an unpopulated section of Earth. With no one able to control the spacecraft, it will tumble to the Earth somewhere between 43 degrees north and 43 south latitude. While that means much of the United States could be impacted by the falling spacecraft the size of a school bus, the European Space Agency projects that much, but not all, of the craft will break apart in the Earth's atmosphere. “Owing to the geometry of the station’s orbit, we can already exclude the possibility that any fragments will fall over any spot further north than 43oN or further south than 43oS,” says Holger Krag, Head of ESA’s Space Debris Office.The European Space Agency will be providing updates as it better projects when and where the spacecraft tumbles out of space and back to Earth.  1547

Chuck Yeager, the famed World War II fighter pilot who was the first pilot to break the speed of sound, died on Monday at the age of 97, Yeager's wife Victoria Yeager said on his Twitter account.According to family, Yeager died shortly before 9 p.m. ET on Monday."An incredible life well lived, America’s greatest Pilot, & a legacy of strength, adventure, & patriotism will be remembered forever," Victoria Yeager tweeted.Yeager earned a number of awards for his service to America, including the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Air Force Distinguished Service Medal and Legion of Merit, among others. (KGTV) -- A card room in Chula Vista has built an elaborate outdoor facility as a way to continue its business and comply with San Diego County COVID-19 pandemic-related health guidelines.Seven Mile Casino’s new “card room” is actually a 5,500-square-foot tent, complete with tables distanced six feet apart, Plexiglass partitions to separate players, and touchless hand sanitizing stations around the tent.Before guests can enter the area, they must first go through a health screening. Staff and patrons must wear a face covering at all times while on the property.Seven Mile Casino spokesperson Brad Samuel said they’ve been working with health officials to make sure the casino meets all guidelines. They’re even using their cameras to help with contact tracing.Samuel added, "If someone was to get sick and say later, ‘I was at Seven Mile Casino,’ we can literally show that person and show authorities every single person that that person came into contact with … so they can be notified."Now that the casino has opened its doors, it means about 300 people also have jobs again. 1112

CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) — Four students at Montgomery High School were arrested Halloween Day during a state-mandated lockdown drill at school. The arrest is causing controversy, and many are now questioning the decision to carry out real arrests during a drill. It was a short 15-minute drill. No one in, no one out. “The whole school was on lockdown and everyone was in their classes. And we had to stay inside because cops came,” student Ernesto Miranda said. Police presence during a lock down is protocol. However, this time, four students were taken away in cuffs. Some are now criticizing San Diego Police officers’ unusual arrest strategy, accusing the department of suing the drill as a ruse to arrest the students under investigation. “It shouldn’t be, like use the lockdown as an excuse to OK, bust down these kids,” student Derek Uribe said. 10News spoke to Sweetwater Union High School District spokesman, Manny Rubio, who told us over the phone, this is the first time the district has ever agreed to cooperate in this kind of arrest. Montgomery High School’s state-mandated lockdown drill was planned for Tuesday, Nov. 13. But on Oct. 29, Rubio said SDPD requested the district to move the drill up sooner, because they urgently needed to make an arrest on campus. The school agreed. They immediately notified students and parents that there would be a drill sometime that week, before noon. Two days later, Rubio said the school carried out the drill. During the 15-minute drill, school stage brought each student in question into the office, where they were arrested by San Diego Police. Rubio said the school made sure to minimize the effects onto the 1,800 students and 100 staff, making the arrests away from classrooms. "I want to be a cop so I think it's smart to not make it a big deal and come in and everything. Just [during] a lockdown drill,” Miranda said. The police department, the school district, nor the District Attorney’s office would specify the exact charges the students face. But Rubio said they allegedly committed multiple violent crimes throughout the county that were, “incredibly severe in nature.”10News asked SDPD a number of questions, including why the students were not arrested at their homes, and why they waited two days before arresting them.
