A Detroit nonprofit says it was denied service because of the city it's located in.Franklin Wright Settlement has been in business for more than 134 years on the east side of Detroit, and says a bounce house company would not deliver to the city because of safety issues.Deon Mullen, director of the Franklin Wright Settlement, said he tried to rent a bounce house for an annual event for kids, but says Awesome Bounce in Canton told him no."I was quite surprised," he said.Awesome Bounce sent Mullen an email saying the company does not service Detroit because of employees being robbed and equipment being stolen and damaged in the past. Mullen said he was offended by the email and said not all of Detroit is dangerous. He said he feels the owner's decision is bad business.Mullen said he is most upset at a certain part of the owner's response, where he states he feels sorry for the deserving children who were born into one place and not another. He also doesn't feel that the issue of safety is a valid excuse."It can happen anywhere," Mullen said. A lot of people depend on their service animals to help take care of them. But one Las Vegas woman said when her dog Luna began having trouble walking, she knew she had to go the extra mile to take care of her. Luna is a 10-year-old German Shepherd, emotional support animal and a lifesaver. Her owner is Sharlene Branche."She has saved my life so many times. Literally gotten me out of bed because of my breathing problems," Branche said.So when Branche noticed Luna wobbling as she walked, she became worried. "She has never whimpered. She has never cried, " Branche said. "She has never shown any kind of pain, but it's my turn, our turn for me and my husband to help her."X-rays found no issues with Luna's bones, spine or hips. Yet the problems with her walk persisted. Sharlene reached out to Urban Underdog Las Vegas, a nonprofit group for help. They shared Luna's story on their Facebook page. Cynthia Miyamoto said the response was overwhelming."So we posted it, and in less than about eight hours somebody had contacted us," Miyamoto said.Someone donated a brand new doggie wheelchair for Luna to help her get around better. Branche said she is overjoyed. "She's going to be able to go on her walks and her runs again. And I can't even thank this person enough!" Branche said. "So when we are fitting her with the harness and putting on her I literally started crying because I was so happy and excited," Miyamoto said after the delivery. 1517
A canceled chase in Akron, Ohio ended in a two-car crash with both drivers being arrested on warrants, according to police.Police said the crash happened around 1:45 a.m. Wednesday at an intersection.Police said they got behind a red Hyundai that was stolen and tried to pull the driver over when he took off. The driver reached speeds of around 80 mph when a supervisor canceled the chase. Police said the driver continued to accelerate and 30 seconds later they found the car crashed. The Hyundai hit a minivan and then a pole, a fire hydrant, another pole, before eventually coming to rest next door to an Akron fire station. The Hyundai was shredded in the crash leaving its trunk lid in a parking lot, part of its door wrapped around a traffic light pole and a wheel a hundred feet away.The driver of the stolen Hyundai had warrants and will be taken to jail after he is released from the hospital with what police say are minor injuries.The driver of the minivan was also a wanted felon and he will also be arrested after he is released from the hospital with what police say were minor injuries. 1131
