BEIJING, Feb.14 (Xinhua) - Shanghai General Motors Co. will recall 2,806 imported Cadillac CTS vehicles in China to repair faulty track bars to prevent safety risks, China's quality watchdog said on Monday.The recall, which is set to begin on March 21, includes models that were produced between June 16, 2008 and April 20, 2009, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said in a statement on its website.The statement said that the company would repair or replace the rear suspension track bars of the recalled vehicles because some nuts on the bars are likely to loosen and cause worn screw threads.This could lead to a loosened track bar under extreme conditions, which is unsafe when traveling fast, it said.The company is to contact car owners to provide free checks and repairs. BEIJING, Feb. 18 (Xinhua) -- In the next five years, China will further expand the coverage of its basic medical insurance system and ease the cost of medical services, Health Minister Chen Zhu said Friday.Chen made the remarks while addressing a meeting for the reform of the health care system.The medical expenditure that shouldered by individuals had been cut to 38.2 percent of China's annual overall spending on medical services in 2009, down from 60 percent in 2001, thanks to increasing government funding support for the measure, said Chen.He said the country is striving to bring down the ratio to below 30 percent by the end of the country's 12th five-year plan period (2011-2015).China is steadily pushing towards the implementation of a basic medicine system which aims to ensure affordable access to essential drugs for patients, Chen said.In the areas already covered by basic medicine system, the average price of basic medicine has dropped by around 30 percent, Chen added.He said that the reform of government-run hospitals, which is key to ensure that the masses gain universal access to basic health care services, must be undertaken.In 2011, more measures will be made to restructure the distribution of public hospitals, reform government-run traditional Chinese medical institutions and support building and developing hospitals in county-level regions, Chen said.

LOS ANGELES, March 2 (Xinhua) -- Those who take a nap are more likely to have lower levels of blood pressure despite stress, said a new study in the latest issue of International Journal of Behavioral Medicine available on Wednesday.In the study, researchers at Sarah Conklin of Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania examined 85 healthy university students, who were divided into two groups, with one group taking an hour- long nap during the day, and the other group having no time to sleep. Both groups were given a mental stress test.The study found that participants in both groups experienced increase in blood pressure and pulse rates when they took the stress test, but the average blood pressure of those who slept for at least 45 minutes was significantly lower after the stress test than it was for those who did not sleep.The researchers drew the conclusion that a daytime nap of at least 45 minutes may help stressed-out people lower their blood pressure and protect their heart."Our findings suggest that daytime sleep may offer cardiovascular benefit by accelerating cardiovascular recovery following mental stressors," the researchers said in the study."Further research is needed to explore the mechanism by which daytime sleep is linked with cardiovascular health and to evaluate daytime sleep as a recuperative and protective practice, especially for individuals with known cardiovascular disease risk and those with suboptimal sleep quality," they added.Sleep deficiency is common in the United States, posing a long- term health threat. On average, Americans get nearly two hours less sleep a night than they did 50 years ago, according to background information provided by the journal.

SAN FRANCISCO, April 7 (Xinhua) -- A latest research has shown that worldwide camera phone sales, driven by fast growing high- tier camera phone market, will top 1 billion units for the first time in 2011.According to the study by Strategy Analytics, a global independent research and consulting firm, sales of camera phones are projected to grow by 21 percent from 918 million units last year to 1.114 billion units in 2011, which will be the first time that annual volumes of camera phones have exceeded the 1-billion mark."The fastest growing segment of the camera phone market will be the high-tier.
