SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — This November will see two meteor showers and a lunar eclipse grace the skies.The Northern Taurid meteor shower will skirt across our atmosphere on Nov. 11-12, according to EarthSky. The event is also expected to produce about five meteors per hour, but the shower is famous for its slow-moving and bright meteors.The next week, the Leonid meteor shower will peak on Nov. 16-17. That shower is expected to produce 15 to 20 meteors per hour. NASA says the Leonid shower happens every November and features some of the fastest moving meteors out there, traveling at about 44 miles per second.Stargazers are encouraged to get the best viewing of the meteor shower by finding an area away from lights and laying flat, with feet facing east, to take in as much sky as possible, according to NASA. The best viewing time will be around midnight and last until dawn.Then to cap off the month, on Nov. 30, a penumbral lunar eclipse will visible throughout North America. The moon will appear slightly darker because the sun, Earth, and moon are imperfectly aligned. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Thousands march along San Diego Bay in support of a variety of social issues Saturday.The fourth annual Women's March began at 10 a.m. at Waterfront Park, near the County Administration building at 1600 Pacific Highway. The rally focused on reproductive, disability and LGBTQ rights, and environmental justice issues, according to the march's website.Women's March San Diego aims to "harness the political power of diverse women and their communities to create transformative social change." The first Women's March was held in 2017, the day after President Donald Trump was sworn into office. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The remains of a Kansas Marine who fought in World War II have been identified.U.S. Marines Corps Reserve Pfc. Raymond Warren was killed in 1943 during the Battle of Tarawa, according to the Associated Press. After his burial site was discovered in 2015, his nephew, Warren Cooper, of San Diego, and niece submitted mouth swaps for DNA testing, The Wichita Eagle reported.This month, the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency announced Warren's remains were identified in part through DNA analysis.RELATED: Veterans honor 75th anniversary of Battle of Iwo JimaWarren was awarded the Silver Star after his death and is eligible to be buried at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors.“We figured that enormity of the sacrifice and the great honor it is to be buried at Arlington tipped that in the (direction) of him being buried there,” Cooper told the AP.According to the agency, Warren was part of Company K, 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, Fleet Marine Force, where they faced Japanese troops on the island of Betio in the Gilbert Islands region. About 1,000 sailors and Marines and nearly all of the Japanese troops involved in the battle were killed.Warren was killed between the first and second day of fighting at Tarawa, the agency says. 1307

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Thousands of dogs and their owners were out for the annual Humane Society Walk for Animals at Liberty Station Saturday morning. The event raises money for all animals at the humane society, including pets that have been abused, injured or orphaned.  287
