Among those new laws are increases to California's gas tax, new regulations on ammunition sales and a law requiring doctors to tell patients if placed on probation. See the list below for more: Senate Bill 1448 - Patient’s Right to Know ActStarting July 1, doctors will be required to notify patients if placed on probation for serious professional misconduct involving harm to patients. Misconduct doctors would need to tell their patients about includes sexual misconduct, drug abuse and criminal convictions. Prop 63. - Ammunition salesStarting July 1, new rules for purchasing bullets will go into effect. The new rules require background checks every time someone wants to purchase ammunition. The law is part of Proposition 63, which voters approved in 2016. A fee is also required for each transaction. Gas tax increaseBeginning July 1, 2019, California’s gas tax is set to rise again by nearly 6 cents per gallon. The increase comes as gas prices in some states could drop below per gallon by the end of the year, according to GasBuddy. Assembly Bill 748Also taking effect July 1 is Assembly Bill 748. The bill requires body camera video and audio of police shootings and use of force incidents to be released within 45 days of the event unless it would interfere with the investigation. 1416

Retailers pulled some name brand dog food from store shelves after a euthanasia drug was found in several products."I was a little surprised, but at the same time you hear all sorts of stuff about what is and what isn't in dog food," said Sam Porach, pet owner.The FDA started an investigation after a TV station tested several cans of Gravy Train dog food and found 60 percent contained pentobarbital, a drug used to euthanize animals, found in some products."It's a tranquilizing drug that is sometimes used by veterinarians in animal shelters to reduce anxiety in animals and ultimately put them to sleep," said Jackie Bowen, the executive director of Clean Label Project.The Clean Label Project is a non-profit aimed at educating people about toxins in products, including pet food."This industry needs to do a lot more testing and be a lot more critical of the ingredients used in its products," said Bowen.The J.M. Smucker Co. owns the brands in question including Gravy Train, Kibble 'N Bits, Skippy and Ol' Roy.  The company is investigating how pentobarbital got into the supply chain."One possible way is through contaminated ingredients," Bowen said.Between recalls and reading labels, pet owners are left trying to navigate what's really safe."Try to go all natural type yah know baked treats and stuff," pet owner Ryan Searle said."I feel like there's been a pretty big movement lately on knowing what's in your dogs' food and having higher quality foods," Porach said.Smucker's said the low level of the drug found in the food does not pose a threat to pets, but admit it's not acceptable. (AP) — California corrections officials say they arrested 110 sex offender parolees during an annual Halloween sweep designed to keep the offenders from contacting children or engaging in other Halloween activities.That's about 9 percent of the 1,252 parolees contacted statewide Wednesday.Officials said Thursday that eight parolees face new charges while the rest allegedly violated conditions of their parole.Thirty offenders were found with pornography, including two with child porn. Thirty-one had narcotics, drug paraphernalia or violated other parole conditions. Thirteen were found with weapons.It's the 25th year for the Halloween sweeps dubbed "Operation Boo."Officials say hundreds of parole agents and local law enforcement officers participated in the crackdown involving searches and compliance checks on sex offender parolees. 869
